Anybody running one of these or similar model? Looking at a lease or possibly a purchase and was wondering what your thoughts are. I’ve always run Deere but sick of the prices that keep getting higher and higher. It would be used on a JD 1790 planter and a Brent 1082 cart and possible other lighter tillage tools some along the way.

Thanks

West Central IL

We demo'd one a couple years ago when we were waiting on our leased 400 to be shipped from the factory.  Cabs are the same on both tractors.  Lot's of room.  Temp control in the 400, Imagineering same in 310, I can't remember is supposed to be automatic, had a bit of trouble keeping it at temp depending if the sun went behind a could or not.  It think they had an update for that though.  The auto steer that they push, ravens, we couldn't get it to work on either tractor, dealer was out trying to fix it, never did get it going.  They took it out of the 400 before delivery and put in a Trimble system and it works great.  They are built like a tractor, not as refined as a deere.  We run all Deere's too besides this one.  But the controls and comfort level I would say is the same.  The engines are cummins, so I wouldn't be scared of them.  I don't remember what power shift they use on the FWA, the 4x4 uses cat, but I thing those use something else.  A couple of things, there's a lot of buttons.  You have to turn the hydraulics on with a button before you can use them each time you start the tractor.  To turn all the lights on, you have to push 3 different buttons.  To make it move, you have to push a safety button on the shifter lever before you push it forwards or if you change directions.  That becomes a pain on the grain cart, your index finger will start hurting after a while, but, I put a 1/4" nut on it, and wrapped the shifter with electric tape to hold the button in.  I never have to press it, even after restarting it now.  If it weren't a leases machine I would take the shifter apart and bypass that switch.  I don't see how it's a safety feature, when it doesn't take off, you normally look at the button and take your eyes away from where your going.

I have SF2 with Deere on a 2630 display for autosteer. I’ve heard there is a harness to make this talk to the raven valve for autosteer but not sure yet.

Yes there is, Raven makes it but you will also need a JD isobus harness to plumb it & for implements etc.

We use it on versatile 4wds....assume it would work for the mfwd.

Fairly easy do it yourself project.

The 260-290-310 are supposed to be virtually the same. There are several threads on here about it, and know of another on the combine forum.

Few have talked about getting the 260 and ekotune it to the 310.

Transmission should be a Univance made in Japan. Used to be 16x9 if I remember correctly.

I leased a 290 last spring. It was late getting shipped and when it did get here it had the wrong tires on it. But the dealer did all they could to get it here faster and gave me a tractor to use until mine was ready, I couldn't really ask for more than that. I was told lease prices went up from last spring but I can't confirm that, I know mine was a pretty damn attractive lease. Like mentioned, there is a lot of buttons. Having to hit a button to turn on the hydraulics and 3 point every time you start the tractor gets old in a hurry, along with the "safety" button on the shifter. The only way I could get factory auto steer was with a Raven Enizio pro. That is a huge pile of crap that sucks to use, no one likes to run it. It does steer ok once you can get the menu's figured out. It does seem to have enough power, but who couldn't use more. I have enough weights and tires to get it all hooked up, so it feels a little different than my other tractors. It is a little thirsty but I think all these newer engines are. I got mine ordered before they had to use DEF so mine is still a regen machine, which hasn't caused any problems yet. I'm considering purchasing mine after the 3 year lease, so I'm fairly satisfied with it overall. If I do buy it the first thing I'm doing is tuning it and getting rid of the regen, then putting a normal sized muffler on.
