Just was curious how many bushel this style of a roorda spreader is? Looking on upgrading to a new holland 195 as this one is completely shot and didn’t know how much bigger the new holland 195’s were compared to what I have now. TIA

That looks like a 180 Roorda. A new holland 195 would hold at least twice as much, maybe a little more.

So I take it the 180 does not mean 180 bushel?

The Roorda is approx 180 bushels

A 195 NH is a lot bigger than 195 bushels.

The NH, or basically anything, will be a better spreader.

Calling a Roorda manure spreader a "spreader" is a bit of an exaggeration, "manure dumper" would have been more accurate.

Ours was never referred to as a spreader, it was a relocater :)

BTW! Your picture brings back memories...... None of them fond :) lol

We always spread wheel track to wheel track. Made it nice and uniform!

Back in the day, between my dad, grandpa, uncle and great uncle......after silage was done we’d haul manure. 3 180’s and 2 300’s. It took one man full time greasing, another one fixing, and a third running to Rock Valley for Babbitt bearings or some crude welded together “part” that could have only been engineered by Mr. Roorada himself. When you do upgrade get an 1140 knight, good used ones can be had for 8 to 10k.

Been looking at a new holland 195 for around that 10 to 12 seller doesn’t know yet. The roorda has lasted me the last 3 years since i got back in to sheep after college but had a half load to spread and something snapped. Not looking to hard at it to fix it. It’s pretty well shot

Don’t blame you, I got rid of the last 300 when the bearingless axel snapped with a full load as I was pulling in a field approach....went out with loader flipped it all the way over and drug it home straight to the scrap iron pile!

Don't know if that size was big enough for you but new Kuhn like 1224 and 1230 can be had for 13-15k and a spreader is one place you should not feel guilty buying new. I have a 08 1224 and minus a belt and a bearing on beater all I have done is adjust chain tight.

I see a serial number tag on the front, it should say if it’s still legible

The 195 New Holland is 400 bushels. They have a fairly wide box so can be heaped up to NAT standards but don't, the driveline isn't strong enough and the spread pattern suffers. The hydraulic drive on the apron is well worth the extra investment. If you load it reasonably it will leave an excellent spread patern.

I had one of those Roorda spreaders a long time ago, in my opinion anything would be better then that spreader. I don’t know anything about the NH spreaders but I replaced my Roorda with a New Idea spreader, that was hands down a much better spreader. Very, very little repairs on it when I used it. All liquid manure now so no more solid hauling :-).

I've got two roorda 300s and a one 220. Total investment of $2200 plus $200 for bearings and lots of grease. Ran Saturday and Sunday with no problems. Ive been around about everything else nh 195, new idea, ih, jd, knight, h+s, and I can't see that any of spread that much better. Once you run a disk over it all looks the same.
