Anyone use a pull behind New Holland stack wagon? What model, how many bales per day can you bale and get out of the field?
Any particular models recommended? Are these things complicated or a farmer friendly implement, easy enough to refurb, maintain and use year in/out? Worse nightmare is to have 1,000 bales on the ground, rain coming and the stack wagon is down.
Any experiences, recommendations or other sage info much appreciated.

Just about as simple and reliable as a machine can get, anybody that can keep a baler working should have no problem with a New holland bale wagon. ...assuming basic welding skills.

Have had a model 1033 NH for over 35 years. Holds 104 bales with one layer having a tie in it ....105 if all stacked the same. The wagons with 3 rows wide stack better than a 2 row wagon because the stack is much more stable. Very few problems or repairs. but we have owned it for most of it's life and did not have to restore. Only familiar with the 1033 and a 1003 2 row 55 bale wagon we had for a few years before. We like to pick up right behind the baler and not get more on the ground than we pick up that day. Can pick up the next day but dew makes it not work as well. If field is close, you can pick up and stack in the barn as fast as you bale.....for us , that is 200 bales per hour tops with a NH 315 baler.

Put a reverse tie on the 3rd tier(along with regular tie on the 5th) and your stacks will stand even better. Load 6 bales on second table then raise table to move bales to back, then make a tie for the reverse tie.. 103 per load and 2 loads per hour to hayshed with field within half of a mile from shed. Man, makes me love my round baler, thinking about how we used to do all small squares.

We started out with a 1033 pulltype about 12 years ago. Did it all by hand before that. (All straw)
Traded up to a 1069 self propelled and there is no comparison in capacity and quality of the stack it makes in the barn! 2000 per day is a good day with fields within a couple miles of the barn. Pulltype wagon will do 1/2 to 2/3 that amount.
This year, we had several really good days in the mid 2000's with two days at 2700 and 2850 bales in about 11 hour days.
If I were you, I'd look at a selfpropelled model. A little more pricey, but well worth the money!

We used to have a 1044. It did not have auto tie, but the additional tier, 8 versus 7 on the 1033 was worth more to me. It would stack 119 bales per load with one tie tier. We could do about two loads an hour in good going.

I've had a couple.....1032..1033...1063..1069..1089.. Best day was over 10,000 bales, 4 loads a hr with the 1069 stacking on end of field, go down & about 1/2 way back & head for stack, picking in LOW gear to get the tables to cycle fast enough. Got started early & ran late.
Not hard to get 3 loads a hr if close. Normal to get 3500-5000 in a good day. The 69 will out stack the 89 in heavy hay because you can get the RPMs higher with the 5 spd.

I have a well used 1036 which is 2 bales wide and holds 69 bales with a tie tier. I can average 3 loads an hour so long as I'm not running down the road. The 2 bale wide model was bought because it fit better into existing sheds than a 3 bale wide model. They are pretty basic and I've never had mine not work when I needed it. I'd quit small squares without it.

We have a 1049 and an H9870. If you have a big enough barn fairly close to your fields then a bale wagon is the most efficient way to put hay in the barn. Our barn is in the middle of our farm and hauling from right next to the barn we can put 4 stacks (640 bales) in the barn an hour. The baler cannot stop at all or the Wagon man will be sitting and waiting. Our record for one baler and one wagon with only two operators was 3600 bales in one day and that field was 5 miles away from the barn one way. Due to our North Georgia weather that's about all you can bale in a day with one baler.
I'd recommend buying a newer one. Our first self propelled was the 1049 we still have but we basically did a full restoration on it to begin with. I've heard the 1089s are geared wrong so I'd be cautious with one of those. Besides that, the newer the better!

Where are you located? My sister-in-law has a self propelled NH bale wagon in her barn that my brother refurbished and then used only two or three years before he died. He was very meticulous about service and upkeep on his equipment so I'm sure it's in pretty decent shape. Email is good if you're interested.

I use a 1002. It does 56 if you have a 14x16 baler. Unfortunately, I have 16x18 baler, so it only takes 42. Have to tie rows manually. Makes a wobbly 2x3 stack. About two stacks an hour.
Tops my list of equipment to upgrade, but so far anything better has been too pricey. I missed out on my buddy's 1047 with a 300 six he put in it. Wish I would of known it was for sale because he had it working pretty slick.
