I have my gramps Super 88 and was wondering if I found a mounted cultivator for it if it would fit with a wide front or not? Anybody have one they would sell? I know he had one on our narrow super 88 and 1800 wide, but i've never seen one on a wide front super?

If it's a so called quick tach, (bolts to bolt pads on frame) it's possible, but not easy, I had a 4 row on a narrow front 770 and it took an hour or so to put it on, and the wide front, O BOY, that could be a doozie.

I didn't know if there was clearance for a wide front and steering?

If it were me I wouldn't look any farther, they were a pain, had brackets bolted on the fenders to carry the cylinders when the cultivator is setting in the fence row, more brackets bolted on the side of frame (rear cylinder anchor) another bolted on the front end. I think it would work on adjustable axle, but I'm thinking it might be a tight fit.

Does your tractor have 2 levers on the hydraulic unit, if not you would shot outta the saddle before you start.

I think the Oliver front/mid mount cultivator was installed in pieces on two large round tubes that ran through the tractor under the engine. Look at the picture and you will see the holes in the belly pan when the cultivator tubes were installed. So an adjustable wide front should work just fine, but they don't turn are well as the narrow front tractors did which can be a hassle when cultivating. On wide front Case DC's we would skip 4 rows to make turns easier.

Yep still have the pipes that slid through the cast bathtub that were part of the Oliver Cultivators on a Super 77 a few bits and pieces but most of the rest of them are gone.

I used the pipe to support the front end when I swapped to the wide front.

Never saw them on and complete (before my time) but heard it was a big job to get them on and all put together. It was also the reason Char Lynn power steering was added to this Super 77 because of all the extra weight. It was also the reason a second Super 77 eventually came because the cultivators were in the way at hay making time and was too much hassle to take off and on.

This pic was before the 2nd Super was bought as you can see the pipe sticking through the frame.

I would think a pipe through the frame  style would work with the wide front as it sits pretty far forward as long as the wheels were at the right row width.

Yes they will fit. We had a 1955 Super 88 with wide front. Dad made a skid to pull each side up to the tractor. Was not an easy job !
