Subject: Old Bostrom Viking seat for Dozer

Mid-Missouri

Currently have a Cat D7E getting a transmission repair. It would be a good time to replace the seat on it as it is worn out top to bottom. It appears to be a Bostrom Viking seat, maybe what is called a T-bar seat. It is spring ride and has no armrests, or seat belt, but I would like to find one with a seat belt.

I would be very happy to replace the seat with a good working Bostrom just like it, or even a different seat that would fit and work as intended. What do you recommend? The Bostrom seems to be discontinued and at one time Northern Tool maybe carried it or a knock-off. Either way, it seems like only a used one will be found for now. If you have any leads on a good Bostrom or advice, I would appreciate it. I have seen some on ebay that are called low profile, I am not sure if I have that now or not.

Check out K&M mfg site http://www.tractorseats.com/c-121-seats.aspx
They have a lot of different options, should be able to find something you like that works.

That is what my D8 has. Years of sun has taken toll. They were a good seat 40 years ago. I had a 1973 Chev straight truck with one, too.

A number of years ago I needed a shock for an 86 IH seat. It was cheaper at CAT than any other place. Not by a little either but maybe 40-50 percent. Check there first.

Viking T bar seats are awesome! Yes they can be hard to come by but when in good shape with new cushions they ride like a dream. Oh and a black one on an open station tractor will tan your hide about 1:00 on a sun shiny July day lol. You might check with Cooks, or Big Tractor parts, they were petty common in Stiger tractors.
