South Central Wisconsin
Looking at a truck with a DT 570 @310 hp. The truck has 200,000 miles on it. Does anyone have experience and therefore opinions on these engines ? What would the life expectancy be at these mile ?

I have on in a fuel truck i think its 2006. At about 9000 hours and 130k the turbo went out and hatched the engine. Other than that no problems have about 160k on it now.

Got a trade in gen set with a DT530. Marked Perkins, Cat, and IH all on one original engine. Decided from its reputation we did not want it. Got $500 for it at Yoder and Frey in FL last year.

Grandfield, Ok.
Had one we called the titanic!! Went from 6000 miles to 20,000 miles and only cost about a dollar per mile to repair. Local gin bought it and is having good service. Go figure.

Run! I just had a dt570ht puke at work a few months ago. We thought oh, no big deal , just in-frame it and go on. Wrong! It has keepers that hold the roller lifters from spinning. Well they have a design flaw, and one f them broke allowing the lifters to turn sideways and chew the cam. Here's the fun part! These are not motors that you can in frame. You have to remove the cam bearings two from the front, then the other two hae to go out the back , which requires the removal of the bellhouse. It was more time efficient to get a complete long block and install it .
