Just got a deutz 7085 with front 3 pt and pto. Looking around a bit for snowblower to put on front, but the front pto is ccw rotation. If buying new you can get the blower specd for that rotation but looking at used and most all are made for cw rotation. Does anyone make a small 1000 reverser gearbox, or even a 1000 to 540 reducer/ reverser??

If it came down to it I think I could build a gearbox to do it but would be far easier if something was available already.

Any chance you could flip the gear box over or swap the driven gear over to the other side?

I think the shaft usually goes straight through to power the impeller.

If you could find a small manure agitator (stir stick) they usually have a gearbox with two 540 6 spline input shafts and one output shaft. You swap between input shafts to reverse the direction of the prop. Should be fairly cheap to find one on craigslist.

Since the boxes have 2 input shafts you could still use the snowblower on the rear of the tractor as well.

Flipping direction of cross auger probably isnt too hard but as has been said pto shaft is typically direct drive to fan impeller.

I dont know how much help it would be but this has been on the local craigslist forever. Looks like a 10 spline to a regular 540. Says Hub City Aberdeen, SD https://fargo.craigslist.org/grd/5843148403.html

There are 1000 rpm reversing gearboxes on round bale shredders that deliver to the RH side. LH delivery bale shredders are direct drive.

After thinking about it awhile I think I can do it with roller chain and 2 sprockets and 2 idlers. Something like this but add 1 more idler to increase chain wrap on the 2nd sprocket. I think this is on a Brandt auger

Or I could probably do a gearbox like this pretty easy as well, either way just a couple of small 1000 stub shafts and some bearings. Gearbox like this could be contained with a nice oil bath too, vs the roller chain probably exposed to snow etc.

The chain would not even come close to handling your horsepower requirements

How about a jd chopper deiveline? Top side to run, bottom side to reverse and sharpen. Seems like you could find them all over the place.

They aren't meant to handle much power in reverse and are just a set of gears to run shaft backwards when on the bottom shaft for sharpening.

Prairie Gear has some styles that reverse the direction on the shaft straight through.

That looks like the center gearbox on our pottinger mowers. You just flip it over to reverse output but it only works on a 90. Not straight through.

Out Kuhn Knight truck mount mixer has a straight through reverse gearbox because the auto trans outputs the wrong rotation.

A couple thoughts for you. Found this pic of snow blower on craigs list. A Wildcat snowblower is one of the heaviest snowblowers made and they use a chain drive. My Allied-Buhler 1000 rpm snowblower uses a chain drive speed reducer in front of the fan to slow it down to about 500 rpm. iirc it has a double 80 roller chain enclosed in a oil bath housing. That snowblower is the only thing that uses all the horsepower my tw 35 puts out. They are rated at 171 hp. I think the key to making a chain take high horsepower is keeping it cool either with long length or oil bath. If you get it figured out, post your results. I am interested in a reverse pto gear box to mount a snowblower on the back of a tractor except mount the blower facing forward. We have a nearly half mile long driveway that seldom gets more than a foot of snow on it but i need to blow it off to prevent ridges and my neck can't take backing up that far anymore. They make inverted snowblowers but I haven't found one that is rated for the horsepower I will put through it. Good luck to you!

Is it CCW sitting in the seat ? standing behind the tractor? Then it is the right way
The pto assembly can be switched internally if not required for other implements
