Subject: John Deere 4450 Wiring Problems... Diagram?

I have a 1983 4450 MFWD and I am having some wiring problems.
First off the radio, interior light, and little clock on the ceiling will not come on work. I was driving one time and noticed the clock was lit up so i tried to turn on the dome light. The dome light lit for one second and then went off along with the clock, never to come on again.

Second issue, related or not, I don't know. Only part of the lights work. In field mode half of the lights work, bottom rear, front of hood and one on each side of the fenders, no tail lights. On the highway mode there is nothing at all, except the flashers. and on flashers only the flashers also work as should. The dash illumination lights never come on, neither will the brights indicator light no matter if you chance the dimmer switch location.
I have replaced the light selector switch, did not help anything.

Need help on where to start, and if anyone has a wire diagram they would email me.

email is [email protected]

thanks for any help i get>>

Northeastern Pa.
I've had some lighting issues with our 4250. I found corrosion on the main terminal block under the cowling next to the door. Cleaned up the main terminal and others and problems went away. I had changed relays etc. before our local Deere mech. led me in the right direction.

will look into these two possible causes. Is there a relay for the lights or the cab that I should look for?

Central ND
Your cab relay is worn out for the radio.........Cant remember but I believe it is under the dash cowling on the left side.
Id bet the wires are bad on the back of the light switch under the dash as well as the terminals on that DANGED switch. Everything there si built a little too light for the load ti carrys. The termainls run very how and the load on it and the teminals destroys them.
bt, dt to many times. Its a real ugly booger for space to quickly easily fix the wire ends on that switch too....

I do remember one of the spade terminals on the old switch was black, and slightly burnt..... I am gonna have to take apart and check on that more in depth. It was hard enough getting the new switch installed, not looking forward to trying to put new ends on the wires

Redickville, Ont
Relays are all under dash by your feet. We had similar problems and found we had power on ground. So we clean grounds on every light wipers and trailer plug and problem went away.
