Whats your dream tractor? Doesnt matter if its stock or not, can have mods I dont care as long as it can be used as a farm tractor and not a pulling tractor.

For me- John deere 5020 Detroit Kinze repower with a soundguard cab put on and maybe a 4wd front axle. Straight crome pipes and turbo.

MM G1000 with wheatland big fenders and 24.5-32 tires on LP with an extra tank on the front. My dad had one and I got to plant some wheat with it and hide behind the front cowl going against the cold wind. Also took naps on the floor when he would run it some. Can't imagine that now.

one that never breaks down, is always full of fuel, has a great clear view cab, a/c that always works when needed, heat that always works when needed, has hp and weight to pull anything I need it to, mfwd that doesn't wear out but also turns on a dime, has brakes that will stop a fright train on a dime for all the gravity wagon haters, has a heated/cooled seat as comfortable as a lazyboy, 3 buddy seats with seatbelts, and the entire tractor is one big flashing beacon.

South Texas

Y'know, I'm not even an IH fan, but I think you have it right.  A 5488 was mentioned, and it's a very nice looking machine (we ARE speaking mostly of looks on this particular thread, right?) but my neighbor had the 1466 and I always thought it looked sharp.
Tough to beat that hood on a MM G1000, though.  Goes on forever.  Reminds me of the straight 8 Buick Roadmaster hood.
Take care.  Stetts

JD 4020 side console, power shift. My dad owns it right now. 17000 hrs, only one engine rebuild that I know of and to the best of my knowledge the trans has never been split. I started driving pulling silage wagons and raking hay with that tractor when I was about 11 and I sure hope I own it some day!!

My original dream tractor was a 6030 Sound-gard. Decided to build my own a couple years back and it turned out great. Actually I have two 6030s now. My Rops canopy 6030 is a sweet late 77 model, factory 3 remotes, 4900 hrs. I put 900-60R32s on it and it's impressive. Currently working on my next dream tractor project, which is a 1972 4620 with 4840 motor, Powershift, factory 3 remotes, 18.4-42 duals and currently undergoing a sound-gard retrofit. Will be as nice or nicer than the 6030. After that will be either a 4320 sound-gard or 7520 sound-gard.

I've gone through different stages in life as what my dream tractor would be. For years as a kid it would have been anything Steiger in Steiger green of course. Then I had a crush on the John Deere 8850 4wd. Recent years had me dreaming of a Challenger MT. I owned one for 4 years only to trade it for a 8335R JD which has been pretty dang nice as well.

Allis Chalmers 8095. Was a prototype allis built right before the Germans screwed it all up. But instead of a komatsu engine I would prefer a cummins.

Not a tractor but I tell folks all of the time that when I was young all I ever wanted the Lord to bring me was a new Gleaner L combine. Most of the custom harvesters were running them back then and when a few of those bright shiny Gleaners were lined up working simultaneously it was truly a thing of beauty!......but I digress........now I can have as many as I want for a few hundred bucks a piece! LOL

01 John Deere 8210. I want an Illinois planter tractor with less than 1000 hrs and never seen a night out of a shed. Of course 18.4/46 and 14.9/34 new firestone deep tread 23°. Green star ready, 4 remotes, buddy seat. Just like my 8200 but with about 7000 less hrs! Otherwise the 4440 that John kinzenbaw bought on that Illinois farm sale in 10 or 11.

Like the older SGB 40 series but the 8100 I now have is really good for visibility & controls in the cab. Older Deere are better for less maintenance but the newer ones after 1995 have a lot going for them.

MY 8520 with Front ILS and Duals front and rear, with auto steer :) I bought this with what I inherited from my Daddy and it is a wonderful tractor. I wish the John Deere auto Steer components were more diagnosable as something has problems and it appeared that i might have to spend over ten thousand dollars and buy new Deere GPS antenna and monitor. So I put a Trimble FMX with EZ steer. I love the integrated steering when it was not throwing codes and failing.

Deere seems to be holding back technology advances and making people buy new components to get the newly released GPS technology. Terradox had so much in 2003 and that company got crushed by Deere and others.

I love my 8520 and it will probably be my last big farming tractor. New stuff from Deere is often so great and then we find some silly stuff designed by some town person who never ran a tractor. Our 6140 R has a lot of silly town person faults.

A brand new 4255 with power shift would be my dram for an all around tractor. I have a 4250 and a 4850 and both are fantastic. The 55 had all the needed modifications. It is hard to beat that great 15 speed power shift but a shuttle would be nice.

Thanks for posting this fun post. :)
