NCSD
Recently purchased semi trailer that has 1 hub which the oil is milky. What do I do? Take the little hub sight glass thing off and drain it out and flush a few times? Or is there an easier way to drain it?
Thanks!

I would pull it apart myself------------but thats me. You can pull the hub cap sight glass thing off and check for rust on the visible part of the bearing and if any is present pull it on down to check things over. If it wasn't a new purchase it wouldn't be that big of a deal since you should know when the water got in

Some hubs have a small drain plug kinda between the the brg races that can be removed to drain hub, some don't. Otherwise remove bolts of hub cover and drain there what you can, not all oil will drain this way, only way to drain whole hub is to remove hub. Drain what will come out and reinstall cover and fill with gear oil. In a few days do it again and most of the bad oil will be removed. Hope that makes sense?

To be safe I'd pull it all and drain it and make sure the bearings aren't rusted up. Only way to get water in is the sight glass which could mean a cracked glass or real bad pressure washer job against the glass or rubber. If the seal was bad it would be coming out the back.
It'll probably cost you a seal to pull the hub but it'll be good for sure and peace of mind
