Subject: EZ-guide 500 power cable pinout

West Central Ohio
I picked up a used ez-guide 500 from a fellow ag talker here. It included the 62817 cable which is needed for EZ-steer, but not the 62818 lighter plug cable. I am going to be using it without ez steer so was going to make a power input cable to plug into the 8-pin deutsch connector but cannot find the pinout anywhere. There are (2) whites, a blue, a yellow, an orange, and a red/white. Only the blue and (1) of the whites have continuity to the 5pin branch that plugs into the power port on the back of the ez-guide. I was gonna try these but afraid of frying the display and was hoping someone could confirm. TIA!

The 62817 is the fused power for both the display and ezsteer. It is common practice to run a pair of power wires from the battery, through a toggle switch and to a 2 pin deutsch to connect to the 62817. This provides clean power if you ever add an ezsteer and / or ezboom.

My cable did not have the 2 pin connector you mention so I did some research and belive the cable that I have is actually a trimble 62063 (connects the 500 to navcontroller autopilot). It has a 4 pin deutsch (P2 Can EZ Boom) and an 8 pin deutsch (R3 Cntrl GPS) as well as the P1 EZG500 and P4 EZG500 which both plug into the back of the 500. My goal is to make a fused cable to plug into one of the detsch connectors and utilize the existing 62063 cable that I have. thx!

Comparing this cabling guide to others it appears that your 62063 is a combo of the 62817 (power) and a 62609 (port exp). The 4 pin would appear to be the power supply connection. Maybe the ezboom connects on the 4 pin between this and the fused power. An ezboom would also receive power from the Raven harness. I am making plenty of assumptions based on this and other diagrams. Can you ask the original owner how the power was supplied?

AhHa, Thanks for the diagram. Now I at least know what I am dealing with. I am now trying find someone in the neighborhood with a 500 (no steering) and a std power cord that I can ohm out from the lighter plug to the small 5 pin round connector that plugs into the back of the 500, or find someone on here willing to do that and ID which of the 5 pins go to the +12v and ground on their lighter plug. Kinda funny how trimble & AL show pin-outs of the rs232 in the user guides, but nothing on power pin outs or even color codes. I guess I should just fork out the $150 to buy one, but that seems silly when I have everything I need, except the knowledge of which pins on that little connector I need to hook to. Seems to be lots of 250's and 750's around here but no luck on a 500 so far. Thanks!

Found the graphic with the ezboom connection on the agleader site. No power connection on the 4 pin deutsch. Actually doesn't show power anywhere.
