Trying to make a decision on a tree puller. I think I've narrowed it down to an Intimidator from Danuser or the EZ puller XL Pro from CL Fab. Really like the grapple/cab guard on the XL Pro and looks very well built, but pricey. The Intimidator looks solid as well, and I like the teeth on top for help in cutting thru roots on bigger trees also. Never seen either in person just pics and video on the www. not sure of price on the Danuser but CL's was on their website. Both have a 34" opening. Says 3" cylinder on the Danuser not sure on XL Pro their smaller model says 2.5". Does anyone have experience with one or the other? Pros or cons? Would be mounted on a Case 450 series 3 if that makes a difference. Rubber tired machine.

Best one I've seen is from NOTCH mfg. On our track machine it is a beast! http://www.notchmfginc.com/treepuller.html

Have a NOTCH on a lx885 new Holland. Got steel tracks on skid steer for traction and extra weight. Very happy with the NOTCH tree puller.

I will first disclose that JB59 is my father in law, but honestly I do not feel I am being biased when I give it a review. It is a great tree puller that works very well. You need to watch a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJUuBWOaso0 of it working to get a feel for how easy it does the job. The scooping action is what makes it different than the others. After you use it for a while you get the hang of how to use the scoop to give you a huge mechanical/hydraulic advantage over just trying to pinch a tree and pull it out with the skid loader. The scoop shears the roots and loosens up the dirt to allow the tree to be removed. It is a new product, but truly feel that if a few of you guys on here get to use it, you would agree that it can pull larger trees than the others on the market while putting less stress on your loader. Take time to check it out- from using personally on my farms, I highly recommend it!

We have a XL Pro from CL fab and its great! We have it on a Bobcat S650 and I'd be more worried about tearing up the machine before the puller. Doesn't ever slip the only thing that limits the pulling is the capacity of the machine. We had to put a restrictor inline to slow down the opening/closing speed.

kbg, that is why mine works so well, gripping the tree at first is meant as an anchor. Then you sweep the scoop under the tree cutting the roots. Then carry the tree away with the grippers. Now you don't need such a large skidloader.
PSI is your friend.

Toby,

I have a CL XL Pro with a brush rack (not the grapple). I've probably taken out 5 miles or so of fence, and loaned it out for probably another 5 miles or so. Once the wire is off, you can have one person just idle along in the dump truck, while the skid pulls the posts and puts them in the truck.

I'm satisfied with mine, but I'm easily impressed, having grown up pulling posts with a three point hitch and a log chain.

No experience with any of the others.

I have a CL Fab and like it a lot. It has 1 inch teeth and a cover over the cylinder that makes it almost bulletproof. I have it setup on my loader tractor and it can make quick work on a half mile of fence posts.

What does that grip and rip puller cost? It is amazing. And how heavy is it?
