Looking at buying a 7000/7100 4 row planter, but having issues finding one close to where I farm. Does anyone have any experience transporting a 4 row on a car trailer and how it went loading, transporting, and unloading? Any tips or input is much appreciated! Thanks

If I remember correctly the 7000 tongue you can take off back almost the cross beam. Its just 4 bolts I think. Would be very easy to put on trailer sideways and let planter down strap it down and take off the tongue. Hope this helps.

That makes sense, I wondered if you could take off the tongue but now that you're confirming, that helps. Thanks a ton!

You would need to block it up of course. The 8 rows put the jack back there on the main frame and the hitch would pivot back to each side, nice and neat. The 4 and 6 rows don't have that jack back in the frame, so you need to block it up somehow.

But it should work out fine that way.

Yup easy to haul, just as described above. Better measure your width inbetween fenders on your car trailer thou. You have to make sure you have enough room for the row units and fertilizer openers. I hauled my 6row on a deck over gooseneck with ease. Took two forklifts and picked it straight up, and I backed under it. Here at home I have a dip/hill and just drive it off the side of the trailer with a couple planks under planter wheels.

Here the counties used to have planters to rent out to promote no-till. Those planters had hundreds of miles on them being towed behind a pickup. I would tow a 4 row 50+ miles before trying to load and unload one.

Back in the day when I was 4 row planter shopping, the John Deere dealer told me that they had pulled them hundreds of miles. Take the drive chains off and just go. The wheels have high speed bearings.

Ludington/Manistee MI area
Unless you have a major metro area to cross drop a pin and go. Pulled a couple 6rn 150 plus miles no big deal worst part is thinking about it.

Dont even think about pulling it with the drive chains on. Make sure to pop them off or your clutch will be shot in no time
