Have a 2010 JD 6430 with constant coolant issues since new. Leaks, overheating and three new radiators. Twice there have been issues with the engine not heating up to operating temp and had to replace the thermostat twice. Both thermostats had the inner seal plate broke in half. Any ideas as to why this would split. The head gasket failed last month at just over 4000 hours. Could this be associated to the thermostat problem?

Seems to me those thermostats sit vertical, Easier to remove the housing amd install them and then install the housing with them in it, easy to get out of place when doing it on the tractor.

After replacing the thermostat, both times, everything seemed to work for a short time. Never considered the waterpump as I didn't think it could build up enough pressure to blow out radiators and hoses as the headgasket leak could. The broke thermostats bring a whole new spin into the equation.

our 6430 was losing coolant out of the reservoir. if I remember, it was a bad oring or something. mechanic said it was common problem that JD had trouble fixing. and the braided fuel lines were junk. I thought German engineers were smarter than that, but maybe not.
