I'm looking at buying a Hesston 6600 Swather. It may need a cab kit. Does anyone know where to get one? I've checked with both Shoup and Sloan's and no one has one. Also could someone tell me about how the hydrostat works on it. Does it have motors on the inside of the wheel itself like a Hagie 284, or does it have chain drive wheels like a SpraCoupe? Thanks for all your help.

It's a chain drive.

Flip open the step at the door and the drive motor is right under it. Keep the chain under the cab for the steering wheel lubed good. May be about as easy to buy bulk interior. Everything is pretty square.

6610 was the same. 6650 had a full back glass.

+1 on keeping that chain lubed, makes for an interesting ride if/when it pops off. Neighbors had one they bought new and wore out, then we used it for a few years. Was a little before my time but I definitely remember it, that particular one was quite a pile. Makes for some good stories though haha.

So what kind of swather for 5000 or less would have the motors on the inside of the wheels? I'd personally rather have this.

If the 6600 you’re looking at is in good shape I personally wouldn’t be concerned about the chain drive. The drive system in the 6610 we had gave us 0 issues in 5000 hrs. The sickle drive pivot point was one of its weakest points. All in all, it was one the most reliable windrowers we’ve ever owned.
