2005 model. 4 speed power shift, shuttle shift, FWA. Piling brush today. Pushed up a small pile, backup about 15 ft and it stops. No load...backing up. Just stopped. All hydraulics work normally. Used stabilizers and front bucket to lift backhoe off ground. Checked underneath for disconnected wires or other damage. Nothing obvious. No hydraulic oil leaks. Reservoir full. No abnormal sounds when it stopped. When lifted in the aid, wheels will turn with FWA engaged and unengaged, but can be stopped by hand. Simple problem or major??? TIA

SCMN

I had the same thing happen on my 310SJ this fall pushing trees.  A couple plugs underneath had come off.  Maybe try unplugging them, check for pulled pins, and plug back in.

Could be a disconnected wire, but nothing was obvious. Will check for pulled pins in plug. While in the air, it will reverse, forward, and act normal, but when back on the ground, not enough force to turn the wheels.

Did the park brake set or did it just stop. Either way tranny has its own fluid and dipstick. Actually not sure about that since yours is powershift. Still might check tranny fluid it's deere low vis oil is what it takes

Power brake did not set. Just stopped moving while backing up.

One time on mine one of those little push buttons you push to change gears or pause went out. While trying to move wiggle and turn those buttons before anything else.

Seldom ever use those buttons...didn't even give it a thought. Thanks for the suggestion.

Be sure to check transmission fluid. When it gets low it automatically sets parking brake. Does not matter when or where. Can be going full speed down road or loading on a trailer when it gets low it will set parking brake. Edit: Hydraulic and transmission are separate.

Last spring ours acted somewhat similar and it was the parking break that had grenaded. The main culprit in this was setting the parking brake while still moving, even at slow speeds. Was a municipal machine before we owned it guessing that's where problems started. Also does it shift like normal when it is raised in the air. If so I would be surprised if wires got pulled out of the plug on side of tranny. That has happened to us before when rear end yoke broke letting driveshaft rip wires out of plug. Highly recommend zip tying wire up out of the way.

Give Murphy Tractor out of Cincinatti a call if you can't figure something out. Great people to work with.

Edit to add dealer

Check battery voltage, on mine key switch was bad, let starter run when engine was running and dropped battery voltage below 12 volts. I wiggle key switch, starter stopped running, battery voltage came up again after a little bit, backhoe could move again. Could be alternator or problem like mine.

Check for relays, if they would come loose, fall out went ramming around pushing with loader. Fuse panel in front of steering wheel on top of dash. Remove two screws pull off panel.

I have a 310 SG doing the same thing you describe. How did you fix it?

We have a similar issue with ours, best we can tell is that the oil is getting too hot. Cleaned the oil cooler real well and it helped a lot.
