Any body got experience with the Doosan brand excavators. Looking at a later model dx 225 and was wondering if any body has any thoughts, if there good or not. Or are they cheaper for a reason.
Would be used around the farm for trees and burying rock piles and stuff like that.

. I hauled one for several years for a guy. He had a 255 he bought brand new. He traded for a brand new Deere a month ago and yesterday he was so mad on the phone his voice was quivering. He wants his Doosan back. He got along great with it and it did have a lot of power.

The only thing he had trouble with was it was hard starting in cold weather.

Ran a 255 this fall clearing a couple tree lines. I'm not the biggest expert in terms of excavators but it seemed like a nice machine. Had pretty good power, hydraulics were smooth, pumps and engine were quiet. Engine did seem to crank for a bit on cold mornings but it did always start. Over all I thought it seemed like a good machine. Wouldn't mind owning it, had no problem keeping it busy the week we had it, was sad the rental company came and took it back.

I have a 2012 Doosan 225 I like it. I never had a problem with it starting or anything else.

We primarily run Komatsu excavators and have for 16 years. We purchased a 2005 Daewoo 255 back in the summer with a ProMac cutter head to replace a burned machine. The machine has performed well, although it is not quite as smooth in its functions as the Komatsus are. Cabs interiors are not as nice, but are adequate. The one plus on this machine is when you raise the engine cover, there's almost enough room to crawl in the engine compartment to work on things. I was really impressed with that. Parts so far have been readily available. I would buy another if needed.

I think that says something.... even if it lacks a little smoothness to a Komatsu. IMO Komatsu is the one to beat. They make a beast of an excavator.
