Does anyone know if a 5.9 cummins will fit into an Oliver 1855. I have a 1991 cummins engine.

Do a search on yesterdays tractor. I think there was someone over there that did some Oliver Cummins conversions.

There are a lot of those done to 1850 diesel Oliver's but not sure about the 55 series the frame between a gas 1850 and a diesel are different. Brad at maibach tractor in Ohio would be able to tell u what you will need to do it. The 1855 used the turbo charged 310 Waukesha and the 1850 used a Perkins diesel. Brad knows his stuff he is a wealth of knowledge.

Thanks to all. My cummins engine was a transplant into a 1992 F250. Turned it into a great truck. 4X4 extended cab would make 20 mpg until running winter grade fuel, which would drop it to around 16 - 17. Engine now has around 400,000 miles on it. Pickup pretty well worn out.

Out of curiousity, do the smaller Cummins engines that would be in a pickup truck, have a governor at all, a high idle governor, or very unlikely=variable speed governor?

Just  idle and high idle. (it's a true automotive type)     I can't  see  why  the Bosch  pump  couldn't be   converted though..

There used to be an outfit that made kits to repower various tractors including Olivers. They were in Indiana and were last known as "ag repower" or something like that. There web page is now gone. There is a shop or dealer in Wisconsin that is repowering Farmalls and they used the Cummins 5.9 engine. I think this is the place in Wisconsin. http://www.linkimplement.com/casece.htm

This outfit has Cummins adapters for Farmall too. http://leamantractorparts.com/cumminsintofarmallinternationalihadap...

You will have issues with the Waukesha tub, it is not quite wide enough. Having a Perkins tub it makes it pretty easy. Along with an SAE 2 bell housing. The best person to talk to although hard to get a hold of is Brad Maibach of Maibach tractor in Creston Ohio.

Any questions let me know, I kinda have a bastard child of my own I'm working on.

There are many 5.9 Cummins engines in 18 and 1955. Do they fit? It will require many changes, I don't know if these all apply for your particular conversion, but have been discussed as needed to make it work. Bell housing, flywheel, PTO drive hub, oil pan,fan and spacers, fan mounting, dipstick, oil fill, different water hose connections different alternator, fabricate motor mounts, throttle linkage. As mentioned before engine governor needs changed too, however this matters on usage. It has a max min governor so if you plan to always run at high idle it may not be necessary. It will not drive as a regular tractor though. Exhaust manifold and turbo wont look good without changes. You also need to cut out part of the tub to fit in the engine. Most people who have done the conversion tend to agree that is is cheaper to sell the dodge engine and buy a used industrial engine to avoid many of the above problems.

Not to change the subject but is that a white cab on the Oliver in your picture? Any more pictures of the cab ? Have thought about doing that for years.

Yes it is a white cab off of a 2-105. It bolted on with a few minor changes. I, however, wanted the quietest cab I could get. So I made the cab modular by adding a firewall and many small changes to help that. It is a very nice cab now.
