 Westport, IN | There are many 5.9 Cummins engines in 18 and 1955. Do they fit? It will require many changes, I don't know if these all apply for your particular conversion, but have been discussed as needed to make it work. Bell housing, flywheel, PTO drive hub, oil pan,fan and spacers, fan mounting, dipstick, oil fill, different water hose connections different alternator, fabricate motor mounts, throttle linkage. As mentioned before engine governor needs changed too, however this matters on usage. It has a max min governor so if you plan to always run at high idle it may not be necessary. It will not drive as a regular tractor though. Exhaust manifold and turbo wont look good without changes. You also need to cut out part of the tub to fit in the engine. Most people who have done the conversion tend to agree that is is cheaper to sell the dodge engine and buy a used industrial engine to avoid many of the above problems.
