I had a 5488, it didn't hurt me to see it go. While it was here I almost bought it twice.
The only thing I thought it was great at is running the discbine and round baler, other than than it wouldn't put power to the ground with new radials, duals, fluid in the rears and a full set of front weights.
Amen to the first paragraph. We have had a 5488 for well over twenty years and we have babied it and I have seen every nut and bolt out of that tractor along with every gear gasket snap ring etc. We have a love hate relationship! It was in the shop every winter for something whether it was radiator engine speed trans range trans differential. . . upgraded that to the magnum diff, pto. And dont get me started on the sentry system. Figured we coulda bought a couple magnums by now. Last winter did new cab kit and seat now we should prob paint it and park it so it looks pretty and don't break! |
