Has anyone installed the newer single door window conversion on the older 379 pete's? I have a 2001 and am redoing the truck. I am installing cab mounting mirrors and want the single big windows. I know outlaw customs sells the kit but don't really want or need the electric windows. Was wondering if you can just remove the old glass and install the single glass.

It appears that is all they are doing. I don't know how good the original window crank will work, if you have air windows shouldn't be a problem

I think there will be an issue with original inside door latch as the glass would not go past it, not sure how they are doing that.

I have wanted to put them in

To get the OEM look you need new window sill as it is at an angle lower in front and new inside door panels for door handle and window actuator.

Can you explain more about the mirrors on the cab? I would really like to do this also. buy the new style mirrors and they will fit on the older trucks or is there a kit out there?

Not sure on the mirrors yet as I haven't installed them. I ordered every piece from my local pete dealer and it was just under $500 for both sides, that doesn't include mirrors. The cabs are identical on all the 379's as far as rivet placement and cab pieces. Im assuming I will have to remove some rivets and huck on the mirror mounts. Ive seen several pre 05 trucks with the cab mounted mirrors so I know its possible.

I think the easiest thing would be to buy a set of doors off an 05+ with single windows. A guy nearby has done that to quite a few trucks. Im sure it adds up in a hurry with paint and stuff though.
Have 1 pete with cab mounted mirrors and 2 with door mounted and to tell you the truth, the door mounted mirrors are nicer for seeing. Can always open the door a bit to get a different angle. The single window is MUCH better though.

Yes it is easily done. With the correct bracket, the mirrors you have will go right on.

Only downside is passenger side window frame is in way.

Do NOT miss doors rattling in windy conditions and doors are quieter in general.

MUCH nicer in situations where you have "driveup" transactions (scales, elevators, tollbooths)  clear window area

Most of our trailers are 102" wide and we want mirrors out there and these brackets helped immensely

Also ran CB and mirror wire in bracket just like OEM install

LOL--------on all of my later petes we took the cab mounted mirrors off and mounted them on the doors . Even with moto-mirrors they pan to slow so a door swing will make it faster but we get into some tight areas. Just so you know I don't think outlaw customs actually built the kits they bought them from someone in the area I just can't remember who it was. Those kids were masters at getting others to do the work then put their name on it. You might give the guys at Empire upholstery in denver a call and see if they know who did them. If they answer since its dump truck season. They did all the ulphostery work for them when they were going full swing

a4t-1600,

I know this post was from almost a year ago. But what did you do with your cab mounted mirrors and brackets when you took them off? Some of us that would like to put them on might be interested in them!

I hate to tell you but the mirror heads were sold on ebay since they were moto mirrors and the brackets went in the pile . Once the pile gets so high it gets hauled to rocky mountain recyling
