seeding canola through middle tank, and canola seems to be sucking past metering roller and brushes while stopped or turning. A couple runs appear to be heavier than others and its not emptying even in the tank. Brushes appear to look okay. Our lbs per acre are way up, using last years settings. Any ideas or experience with this problem, thnxs.

I should add that while we are stopped and the fan running, two runs are trickling canola.

I had same problems on 1900 cart last year. There is one updated manifold on seeder on centre section that seemed to be worse. Figured that between shorter centre hose (60ft drill) and newer manifold air probably flowed a little easier causing the syphoning. Only way to eliminate was lowering fan speed. Changed centre hoses this year and made them a little longer and never noticed it at all this year.

discovered that the fan dampener had moved, diverting too much air to the canola stream. After re adjusting, cart is metering properly. Thanks for the replies.

I had the same syphoning issue in canola 3 years ago on my middle two manifolds where the shortest primary hoses are. Especially the one inside manifold with an extra outlet.
I took off the 6 foot long primary hoses on these manifolds on the drill, and put on 15 foot long primary hoses and looped them around. Problem solved for me ever since.
I believe what happens is that the hoses for the inside manifolds run at a slightly lower pressure (due to their shorter length to the openers) than the hoses for the farther away manifolds. Also manifolds with more outlets run at a lower pressure than manifolds with less outlets. Either way, there is enough difference that there always is a little bit of air wanting to flow from the pressurized tank, through the meter, and into the manifolds with least resistance.
It is only in small seeded crops and higher fan speeds that it affects product flow through the meter.
You should try to get your primary hoses closest to the same length as possible and practical, slow down your fan speed, and deflect as much air as possible away from the seed manifolds.
