Anyone have one they like or think is the best? I have some CRP to de-tree and I am thinking of buying one. There is one in the AgTalk classified but I think it looks kinda light weight and not gusseted well. It is one of the cheapest I have found so far though. Thoughts and experiences?

I have the scissor type from Jenkins out of Long Prairie MN. I have it on a 450 ct (90ish HP) and have yet to tear it apart. I know they advertise here so it may be the one you are referring to.?.?. My brothers and I helped one of their father in laws clean up 300 acres of CRP with it. Invaluable tool as it gets the roots and all.
They used to do some custom fab so if you think you want something different or custom, I bet they could help you out.

We got ours from CLFaf.com. Its built stout, but we did manage to break it. Sent it back to them on their dime and it came back to us better than new. A weld was done wrong when it was made. Only recurring problem has been breaking a hydraulic fitting. We are very satisfied.

We have the EZ Puller from CL Fab as well. The only problem I've had with it is I didn't keep an eye on the hoses and they fell between the puller and the bucket arm and it cut one hose. Got about 40 acres of wetlands to clear and some of the trees are BIG. I'm using a New Holland L185 and I have pulled trees up to 14" diameter with it. When they get that big I dig at the roots and then I can up-root the tree. The last one was so big I couldn't pick it up and had to drag it to the pile. The biggest feature that I think is critical for a tree puller is the ability to dig in the dirt to get to the roots. CL Fab puts heavy guards over the cylinder to protect it for just that. The thing is worth every penny.

I see Notch mfg. out of lake henry MN makes one now. We have a notch grapple bucket that it built very heavy, almost too heavy, so I would assume their tree puller is just as good.

We have a Precision Mfg tree puller. Model 525. It's built very well and has pulled a lot of trees. On the bottom side where the latch pins go through, the steel is a little thin and after a lot of use it cracked. We beefed it up and should be good to go now. I'm sure the company would have taken care of it but it was easier to just do it rather than ship it off or haul it back to the factory. The rest of it has held up well so far. I put some value in how much a skid steer attachment weighs. Just because it's heavier doesn't guarantee it's better but there's a good chance that more metal means stronger. This one weighs 498lbs but I don't know what others weigh. We didn't shop around, we knew a couple people that had them and liked them so we went with it. They are made in Missouri but I think they have dealers spread out everywhere.

Neighbor has a Jenkins I've used to pull a lot of trees this spring with an l180. Very stout. I ended up buying a skeleton grapple from them and have been very happy with it. Honestly they are about the cheapest place to get one. I've pulled 5-6" diam trees with it.

I have a Lakender (sp?) I bought down by Iowa City. Put adapters on it it and use it on the front of my 200 hp FWA tractor loader. I'm sure it wasn't designed for this but has stood up fine. I've done things with it I'm not proud of and it stood up to the task.

Another vote for CL Fab. Bought the Tree Puller/Grapple this spring and zero complaints. It's nice to have the grapple built in to the tree puller so you aren't changing attachments all day.
