Subject: feeding hostein steers from birth to finish / how much corn

Manitoba
did a bunch of searching but didn't find answer for this scenario. our freezer is full now but if it's not going to empty out completely at some point in the future we have to plan ahead. so we want to get some Holstein bull calves fairly shortly. going to hand this project over to my kids. sticking with Holsteins cause were used to them and readily available close by.

if feeding these steers from start to finish how many bushels of corn should I budget for? going to be feeding them with a steer stuffer/that system worked well last time we raised some but they were not started out as calves that time so not sure about amount per animal.

thanks

all over Iowa
From 325 to 1425 we figure 10 bu per head per month for hedging purposes. This is to cover corn and feeds based on corn price such as silage, earlage, and corn byproducts.

125 bushel is what I was told to figure by a cousin that finishes 300 at a time. He starts them as bottle calves.
