Considering trading for a new JD 6150m with H360 loader. Will be used mainly for haying, chores etc but possibly pulling 12/23 Kinze notill planter and maybe grain cart. Is this tractor overall a good machine for that? Don't know anyone around here that has that model.

We have a 6125M and it is a good tractor and very handy. Make sure it has the optional big hydraulic pump. Very handy for haying and loader work. Depending upon the size of the grain cart it might not big enough for that. If it doesn't have the big pump I would stay away from it for loader work.

They are a great tractor but your jobs could really be too much. The 12/23 planter will be heavy and tough on that tractor. I pull a 12/24 with a 7400 MFWA and that planter will push it around pretty good. Grain cart will be the same. Be hard to see loading a truck too. They are short stubby tractors. I know everybody will say you don't have to fill it but real world says you may have a problem. For the money I believe I would step up to a bigger frame tractor. Don't get me wrong I like the JD 6150 and would like to have one but I am afraid it would be a boy trying to do a man's job.

Local guy pulls a a12/23 with a 966 IH. I think he put hydraulic pump from a larger IH in it. Dual radials and a bunch of turns on the smoke screw and along he goes. My experience is that planters of that size do not pull near as hard a 5/18's buried in black gumbo.

Have 2 6170M from last year, good handy tractors. Used to spray, plant brodcast, haul grain etc, etc. Have standard seat, buy some more comfortable!
Would buy the same tractors with better seats!

The 6150M is where the 6 series changes from 4 to 6 cylinder engines. It also is where the 30 gallon PFC hydraulic system becomes standard equipment. Also has the 20 speed 25 MPH trans. as standard with left hand reverser. Also comes standard on 42" rear rubber. Rack and pinion rear axles and cast wheels are optional and needed. The next larger tractor (6170M) has them as standard. What you do need to know is that it takes the R series to have integrated auto-track so if you need or want it in the future, something to think about. The 6150M is about like the previous 7330 Premium tractor in power. Hope this may help.

BIL has one with about 450 hours and it won't hold engine oil pressure. Dealer has been trying to figure out reason for at least 6 months. Tried an underhaul but that solved nothing. Going to replace the engine but one does not exist anywhere in the system. Has to be built and shipped in. Maybe in another couple months he will get it back but he isn't holding his breath.
