NW Central Iowa (Fort Dodge)
Bought some John Deere Bikes today at a auction just curious what year people think they are and how much value they are worth. They are 3 Speeds.

I know they are not rare just curious, I am not a John Deere guy. If someone throws enough money on the table they may find a new home. :)

300 -500 holy cow, Ive been looking around online and seeing alot of 10 speed, so made me think these are older because they are only 3 speeds

You thinking early 70's? Are the 3 speeds rare?

GF's family use to own a couple JD dealerships and they got a set that look like they never been rode. I'm guessing a few hundred a piece. 70's I was told.

I bought a John Deere 10 speed in 1974, cost $110, seems a 3 speed was $8O, I was 13, dad was not impressed with me spending so much on a bike, lol

Have a few JD bikes. Got a few free and bought a few at auctions for $25. So they are worth whatever someone will pay.

I will give you $75 for the pair. Just throwing $ out like you said to do.

Germany

I saw one owned by a dyed-in-the-wool Deere guy "here", but I am quite sure they were never distributed in Europe officially.

Were they a "real" production branch of Deere or merely a marketing gag or an item to be given away with a new tractor etc.?

My guess is you could make real money with them if you found a way to bring them over the pond :-)

Chebanse, IL.....

countryman...

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will post. But I googled & did some reading on bicycle websites. Seems JD had them mfg by a couple different foreign companies in the early 1970s. There was also a JD bike back in the late 1900s, but that was different. Anyway, supposedly the men's 10 speed bike was very lightly built by a company in Taiwan & was easily broken. The ladies 10 spd was built heavier & lasted longer. The 3 speed was built by yet another company. Not sure of the integrity of that machine. The direct drive (1 speed) balloon-tired model was actually a good bike, so they say.

Again, hopefully we'll get more info from someone knowing their bikes.

PS-I put quite a few thousand km on a bike in Augsburg!

Imagine what they would be worth with an IVT and a ILS.

I owned a JD 3 speed when I was a teenager in the 70's. Seemed like a fine bike to me at the time. I rode it all over my neighborhood on gravel roads and occasionally into town.
