Subject: JD 2600 Starfire itc GPS out

Wood Lake, MN

How do I get a GPS signal out of the John Deere system, I have a 8230 with a 2600 and starfire itc receiver and I want to get a gps signal out to hook up my CIH Pro 600. Dealer told me to use the field doc connect cable PF90363. I tried different settings, i tried a null modem and no signal. What am I missing? One that I haven't been able to find on the 2600 is where to set the 8-n-1 settings, I can find the baud rate, hz, and the different string settings. Reading in the past posts there was a post that said you have to use a different cable, did the dealer give me the wrong info?  If I do need to use this PF90350 cable where does it hook up to on the tractor?

Thanks for any info

It's been a frustrating afternoon to try and get a signal!!

The PF90363 cable is used for communication from the GS2 controller to other non deere controllers. The John Deere GPS receiver sends out data on the RS232 wires out of the receiver on pins 3 and 10. These wires have no mates to them on the tractor side of the plug in. We have been making a harness to go from the connector down and into the cab. There is a harness from Deere PF90350 that will Y into the receiver connector and then you can run that down into the cab. It also has the radar wire ran in it as well if you are using a ITC receiver.

lukerduke the cable you make or the pf90350 do I run the cable over the cab and come into the back window or is their some other place to come into the cab with either one of the cables? On the cable you make do you T into the the connector that goes into the bulkhead of the cab or do you hook into the second connector on the itc?

Thanks
Jason

I have a cable, made by Benco out of Sioux Falls, that Y's out of the ITC and into my Ipaq w/DB9. I run it over the top of my cab and in through the back window.

This thread from a year ago may also offer some assistance.

On an 8030 there is a bulkhead connector under the cab by the wiper. I remove the roof pin out two wires with the correct pins and put them in the connector, I then run the wires down the right hand rear corner post and into the cab. I ground another wire and populate those three wires with the correct pins into a DB9 connector. Then I put the roof back on. It may take a while longer then you want but its hidden when you are done and it follows the routing of the factory wires. The only draw back is when you trade you have to do it again to your new tractor, the Y harness is moveable from tractor to tractor.

Pins 3 and 10 are both transmit pins? Or is one transmit one receive.
