It's a little late to be doing this now but I'm fed up with broken, corroded and damaged sensor and harness wires. Not to mention the distance wheel and M6000 monitor.

I'd like to totally redo the monitor system and need recommendations. I have a 7000 front fold 12 row behind a 4650 without radar.

Do I look for good used equipment or go aftermarket like a vanguard from Shoup or the like?

Timeliness on the overhaul is a concern now too.

Any advice is appreciated.

I would get a new harness from shoup or JD with the 37pin (I think that is what they use) for JD 250 monitor or 350 is the same i believe. We use an Integra now but going from our old JD7000 flashing light monitor to JD 250 was huge upgrade. I'd try and find used along with maybe a radar. Here is a JD350 for sale. http://talk.newagtalk.com/classifieds/Classified.aspx?id=8298 That fellow selling it is a good guy as well, i've been to his place and talked to him before. He's maybe a 15 min. drive from shoups. I'd sell you our 250 and radar but we have been saving it for when we sell planter. But with so many 20/20s out anymore there has to be JD 250 just sitting in boxes somewhere.

when i was putting my 7000 15 row 15" bean planter together
i went to ag express for my monitor and they custom built the
harness. i use an easy guide 500 for speed for the monitor.
i use to have 2 monitors a 100 and 150. i used the same monitor
for my 7200 corn planter. i am very happy with my system.

+1 on this. We are on second year of dickey john pm300 and sensors and harness from ag express and love it so much we got the same thing for our new grain drill. Would recommend highly. We upgraded from an old john deere monitor that had the light bulbs and a siren of something was wrong. Found it to be very unreliable and we were blown away with our new one. Had 1700 in the new one and so far well worth it.

My brother got a used monitor (can't remember what model) then had AgExpress custom make a harness and all new sensors with weather pack connectors. Pretty nice set up.

I have a dickey john 3000 monitor for sale. AG express put new cables on it and tested it. They also can build you a harness (37 pin). I'd take 350 for the monitor plus shipping

I recently upgraded my 7000 with the black box to a jd 250 monitor. I changed the plug on the harness to the 37 pin and use a Centerline 220 for the speed signal. Works nice.

i did the shoup harness and vanguard monitor the as my first one on the planter. the vanguard did very well, it showed the rows as bars showing how they are doing to each other. it also shows population from row to row, or seed spacing. it is a great little monitor that gives you plenty of info that is easy to use.
