Had water pump go out this fall put a lot of antifreeze & water in crankcase. Ran it a couple of hours before I caught it. Put a new pump on changed oil three times had oil sent to lab came back ok. Oil pressure cold idle 20psi cold full throttle 55psi oil pressure hot idle 12psi, hot full throttle 50 psi. Do I need a bottom overhaul or let it go. JD service manager told me to run it. Would like another opinion.

The question is what were these pressures before the water pump failure. I've always considered 20psi at idle to be sufficient and 50psi at operating speed is surely sufficient. What weight oil are you using

Don't know what it was before it has idiot light but it didn't come on untill after the pump was replaced, I put a tee in the line before the sending unit and put a mechanical gauge. Also I put 1 shim in the oil relief spring.

First of all I'm going to call a 4200 HR. 4455 tractor high value. When you say a lot of anti-freeze/water in the original post how much was a lot? What was the tractor being used for the couple of hours? What caused your attention to the problem? This oil scan after the third change have many hours on the oil? Is this tractor MFWD?

It was hauling in grain pulling 2 Brent 644 about 70000 pounds when it was idling the oil light would come on. about 2 gal water in crankcase. Put new pump on, changed oil ran 10 hours, changed oil ran another 10 hours, changed oil ran 30 hours sent in sample oil to lab. 2 wheel drive

You can go a couple of different ways here. Run tractor for a full oil change period and sample again looking for any indication of bearing metals. Or pull oil pan and check a rod and main bearing for anti-freeze damage. Or just go ahead and roll a full set of main and rod bearings in using new rod bolts. The labor cost to drop the pan on a 2WD is much less than having the MFWD clutch/gearbox in the way. Your comfort zone important of course.

do an underhaul so you can sleep at night. it'll bug the crap out of you every single time you use the tractor if you don't, wondering if you should've and if its gonna lay down.

I think the warning system is set to come on at ten psi when the engine rpm is at idle and the engine temp is at operating temp. Not sure if this engine has a gasket on the oil cooler bypass valve housing in the sump but if it has check it low oil pressure at idle and good at rpm can be that .
