looking for a wheel loader to load chicken manure into spreader (BBI) . I have come across an A64 and A66 within 70 miles. I know Ford stopped making wheel loaders back in mid 80's but if the price is low enough in relation to scrap value would you get one. Might load 1000 to 1200 ton a year with it . What are the specs on them. Any place online to get info on them? How about parts for trans and axles? Do they use same trans and axle as other brands. How reliable are the brakes, etc. thanks.

Grandfield, Ok.
Heavy equipment forms has the A 66 specs do not know about the A64. Had an A 66 one heck of a horse, good brakes decent steering and would lift way more than it was supposed to. Would say between 6 and 12,000 depending on condition. Sold mine for 7500 and it needed lots of pin work but it would load a truck with 4-5 buckets of dirt. Slow like most of the older loaders were. Would buy another if I needed one as have 3 loaders at this time. Honest days work for an honest days pay.

I could be wrong but I think they are the same as a John Deere 544 and 644 A or B models.I have never looked at one in person but I once saw a picture in the Auto Trader magazine and I thought it looked just like a 644B,I had a 644B for many years and it was a very good machine. It had the 534 diesel same as the 5020,it used the old Allison 2 speed auto with a hi and low range. The hydraulics were very strong and it was one of only machines of that time period (late 70's early 80"s) that had brakes unlike the 950 Cat I used to have.

Pendleton Oregon
They are a good reliable loader, we had them years ago and they run and run. They have a Twin-Disc transmission which is identical to the JD 544B . Wet brakes with indestructible axles. It would be a perfect machine for what you need
