Subject: Who's done and how many acres do you run thru your combine?


Manitoba		Post below got me thinking how many acres do you run thru your combine and what is it? I run a 9860 and a 9600 put 5200 acres threw them about 1400 threw the 9600 and 3800 threw the 9860.

Western Illinois		2500 through 5130... 2050 corn with 6 row. 450 beans with new to us 35' draper which was awesome! Started Sept 12 done Nov 12. Best crop ever here for both crops. 360 engine hours 302 separator hours.

Baldwin City, KS		1700 or so through a 9510 and 625, but now a 470 r lexion with f 30. Adapted the 843cornhead to it. 9510 cut a few of the beans and wheat this year until someone came along and bought it. Liking this lexion so far.

Amherst WI		900 with a 2188 1083 corn head and 30 foot stalk dozer I mean 1020. I'd like to look into a 630F with an air reel for next year.

I ran this many with a 6500hr 1460 and a 1063 and 20 foot 1020 until 2011.

Combination and type of crops will make a big difference as to how many acres are reasonable.

An interesting question.

Esp if the beans are standing and the corn is not.      Are you done with your miserable harvest yet?     Pick up anything interesting with the corn head?

Only grenaded 3 snoots.


22" down corn is much easier to pick than30" down corn.....


I'm hoping 2014 brings us standing corn.

Northern CA		On average 400 acres through an N7 of wheat; 200 acres of wheat through R50, and now 300 acres sunflowers through the R50. Just small here.

Done here in Delta two weeks ago with CaseIH 8120. 1000 acres rice, 170 acres corn(first time for corn) and 1050 acres soybean. Amazed at how easy corn was to grow and harvest. 310 engine hours, rice accounted for 70% of them.

tennessee		265 ac. through a CIH 1660 in the evenings and weekends. Really don't want to do much more than that. Best crop ever around here for me..........

tennessee		Yes I did get it this summer. Got along great with it, a few minor bugs to work out but overall I love it. The specialty rotor is amazing in beans. I actually didn't mind cutting beans this year and I usually dread it. Couldn't be happier with it............

Caldwell County Kentucky		1,310 acs. corn, beans and some wheat this past summer--CaseIH 2366 with a 963 corn head and 25' 1020 platform. Finished this past Monday. Lots of rain outs and about a 10 day later start and wet corn start than usual.

Eastern, IN		Done 2 days ago: 900 acres corn, 800 acres beans (1700 total) thru a 2388, 6 row head and 30' grain table. This year the crops were very, very tough to cut.

summerton sc.		2000 corn, 1400 beans, 1400 wheat running S680 ,12 row corn head ,635FD draper.and average cutting about 700 acres for a real good neighbor . Wheat was good, corn was real good, beans better that I was looking for.

Have a s670 with 640d, just done 6500acs of wheat, 750barley, 850 canola. Last year we done 11000ac with 2588. Next door run a 9770 and are near done had 18000acs to do.

West Michigan		John Deere 9870 1293 cornhead, 1290 cornhead and 635flex draper 2000 acres corn. 3000 acres of beans. 1200 acres of wheat this year mostly custom work. I have 800 acres of corn and 400 acres of beans left. Corn is wet yet and beans were late because of the wet spring.

Dads got a case 5088. Between dad and i we Ran 1050 Ac through it. 30' grain head 6 row head. Had a neighbor come and cut 35 acres of beans for me one day to help us finish up beans.

Central West Western Australia		We have put around 6300ac of wheat, 2200ac of lupins, 1700ac of canola and 1000 of barley through our 8230 with a 45ft 2152. This is going to be one of our earliest finishes due to great weather

Grawn Michigan		120 wheat, 60 oats, 120 soys, 470 corn. 4700 hr 1460. Rebuilt 863 and a couple old 820 heads. Not done with corn due to 6 weeks of rain followed by snow. Corn is 25+% moisture.

Ks		Finished the 19th, 1,600 acres wheat, 1,600 double crop soybeans, and 1,600 acres corn. S-77 with 35' Macdon and drago 8 row.
Third year in a row for bad corn crop, at least it yielded better than the wheat this year.

Paradise KS		300 acres of our wheat, 300 acres custom acres of wheat, 150 acres beans, 275 of our milo and 40 acres custom milo, grand total 1065 acres through a 1460.

Liberty, MO		500 acres R 65, 6 row and 25 ft draper, downsizing to retirement some day only 71, and 1 man show.

Why is everyone so sensitive about that anyway? I mean, really what difference does it make, and couldn't someone figure it out anyway if they wanted to?

To me it looks no different than asking a guy how much grain storage he has, or how many cattle in a feedyard. It's interesting and relatively harmless for an outsider to know, and could probably be fairly closely estimated anyway. Now ask how many mama cows a guy has, or acreage he farms, and he acts like you asked what his checking account balance is, or for a measurement of his member. It's certainly true that some things are personal, but I don't see why farmed acreage is one of them.

NC ND		1800 pinto beans through a Pickett, 850 wheat and 130 of corn through a 9600 and 9610. Looking to be done in a couple days when the dryer catches up.

ECIL		I don't see the big deal either. I don't think I have ever asked someone how many acres they farm, but I have been asked countless times at college and by others. It's not a big secret in my opinion.... maybe it's personal to some, but many of the outsiders that ask really don't have a clue and are just trying to make conversation. I know of one particular farmer that is VERY secretive about nearly everything that goes on on his operation, I can only imagine how he would respond if asked how many acres he farms.

Nwmo		We have a guy that helps us out sometimes, and he likes to do math late at night when the day is over. Its amazing the numbers he comes up with for how much money us rich farmers are making. He only needs acres or one piece of the puzzle the rest he can fill in. A lot of people run into that situation a lot, you throw a number out and instantly you have people doing math and deciding how much money you have. Those same people tend to link having money to screwing someone over to get it, then you have to be on the defensive because they see dollar signs when they see you.
Its not always that way but jealousy is alive and well whether its deserved or not.

East Prairie, MO		I like 230 acres of Beans yet, short days and lots of cloudy damp days with few sunny ones has slowed us WAY down. CaseIH 7088 with 2162 35' draper and 2412 corn head. Had 500 acres of wheat, 1200 acres of corn and 1700 acres of beans this year.
