| We've run a 44' CIH 200 with a rolling basket for 3-4 years now. I've plugged 1' of a outside basket once when I was working into a really nasty wet spot that yielded almost nothing anyway. I kept going in a circle in the same direction... I should have gone the other way once. We do have some rock and of course we keep them all picked up :). I can remember one fist sized rock that I had to beat out of the basket bars. I really like the seed bed, especially the way most of the dirt is beat out of the last years corn root balls. I kind of prefer the turn buckle depth setting. I know it's old school, but once I got it set, I haven't moved it since, and sometimes the KISS method has a lot going for it.
On the down side, keep the rolling basket AWAY from the fence lines. Pulling pieces of barbed wire out of one with a plier is not the most fun way to spend a hour. I now carry a pincher in the tractor tool box. I incorporate 29/32% with chemicals with my digger. While the double frame on the 200 works great, it's a real b##$%h to wash. It usually takes me 3-4 hours and one sore back to do. | |
