I came home today and looked into the bin to see how they were coming along. The power sweep is in and looks like this on the end. Where is the wheel? How does this go around the bin without tearing up the floor?

walking drive!!! i haven't seen one of them in years,we built a behlen bin in '75 and the sweep that came with it had a walking drive on it,was a pretty good and dependable sweep but it wouldn't move itself around the bin too good,be interested if this rendition works better.

Slicker than a Yes album.
They make marks as the move along, but no more so than a spinning wheel. Ours I have to give a shove now and then, but I'm in there anyway shoveling and sweeping.

That is the exact same setup that's in our top dry bin. Works very, very well, doesn't take off on you when it gets to the end of the circle like a direct drive wheel.

I have Brand new Sukup bin (December 2013)and the sweep looks nothing like that. It has a wheel and is green. I wonder if your bin dealer did a substitution to make his bid lower. I would check the sweep and look for a manufacturer plate. Then look at your bid to see how it was quoted.

keep it greased! ours gets greased every single load. I like ours better than wheels and I'm working on converting all of our power sweeps to walkers. no worries

The picture looks nothing like our Sukup power sweeps. But I like the idea better the Sukups rubber wheels that wear out. Has anyone converted a sukup to the walkers? Easy to do? Thanks

Red/blue probably means Hutchinson/NECO. A little on the light side as far as power sweeps go, but at least it isn't roller chain driven. Manufacturers keep trying to find the right balance between traction and durability in effectively unloading grain. As far as I am concerned they haven't found it yet!
I did sell one of these today. A Daay paddle sweep. A different animal completely, but I sold it to a seed company who might empty a bin 4 or 5 times a year:
Performance has been excellent with these, they leave very little behind the back board to clean up. Paddle adjustment and wear will be the main issue, but they've held up nicely in commercial models.
