Isn't the water pump ran off the serpentine belt? Just get a half inch drive breaker bar and pull on idler pully, should be big enough to slide over fan.

You have to take the fan belts off and then loosen the tightner pulley on the water pump belt. I believe it will slip over the fan but can't remember for sure. If not you will have to unbolt the fan also. Both the water pump and fan drive off the accessory drive.

I think the water pump belt will go over the fan, it is the fan belts themselves that you have to take the fan loose because they are to short to thread over the fan. Don't you just love engineers. I let the fan slip from my grasp once and caused myself a radiator removal and repair.
