Subject: brake mod to Spra Coupe 3430

after struggling with getting the parking brakes on my Spra Coupe 216 and now my Spra Coupe 3430 to worked, i came up with this fix for the 3430. I remove the old Tolomatic mechanical/hydraulic brake calipers and installed just hydraulic Tolomatic brakes calipers that I go off of Ebay. These calipers where made for the 1/4 inch thick disc's that are on the 3430. I built a bracket and mounted these in a fixed position and then I removed the inside snap ring on the disc so now it floats. The other brakes calipers where mount on pins and floated and the disc's where fixed. I then spliced in 2 Biondo Racing brake linelocks in the brake lines. I then installed a lighted switch and Surplus Center buzzer with a light in the cab to control the brake linelocks. The buzzer is loud enough to hear over the engine and other noise. Pros and cons...pros...no more worries about trying to adjust the parking brake any more, just depress the brakes and hit the switch and the brakes are locked on. Hit the switch again and the brakes release. Cons...you parking brake is dependent on electrical power, so if the power fails, you lose your parking brake. Or if you have a small leak somewhere in the brake lines after the linelocks the brakes will bleed off slowly. So far neither of these have been an issue for me. I tested the linelocks on my bench for an hour with power on and they did not even get warm to the touch, they only pulled about 2 amps together..

How do you keep it from rolling when key is off?

you could hot wire the swtich to the battery and it would be on all the time regardless of the key being on...I was afraid even with the buzzer i might forget to turn it off and end up with a dead battery...when i shut the coupe off i just leave it in gear. that was what I was doing before, cause the mechanical parking wasnt working...at least now i have a parking brake when I am filling, or parked on a hill etc...

Is there not a line line lock that could work opposite power to open the line? Just thinking if a kid hoped in and pressed the clutch or got it out of gear when
Parked on an angle

NW Minnesota
A Mico Lock would have been a good option also, I think they are still locked even if you remove power, they won't come off until you press the brake pedal again.

Central Missouri
Biondo line lock $43.95
Micro electric brake lock $365.00

I have seen many biondo used in farm trucks, one has burned up and 3 are working fine.
