Looking for the minimum size you would build your two car attached garage, not for storage, but for vehicles. Remember minimum. Thanks for your opinions.

Depending on if it is a c/c long bed etc. I wouldn't want any less than a 30x30. Absolutely hate having to be careful opening doors to not hit other vehicle, unloading groceries, cleaning out vehicle etc. JMHO

24x24 will work if your only putting cars in. If you're going to put a truck in there I wouldn't want less than 28x28 but thats still not much room.

Even with a midsized car (which is small) . .
Figure 4ft for each side the vehicle - opening doors and stepping around it. It'll still be tight.
22 or 20 wide x 20 or 24 deep, does not allow opening Car doors fully, let alone stepping around the open door.
Thow a larger SUV in the mix and 24x24 or 28x28 would be better.
Don't know how  many smaller garages I've seen and a few fixed, that the back wall sheet rock and studs have been smashed in and broken out. . . . .

Agree. 24' x 24' is the absolute minimum but you will be much happier later if you go 30' x 30'

You can get by with an inside dimension of 18 X 18' but you won't like it.

I think we are at 34 x 36.  2  - 10 foot wide doors x 9 foot tall.  Wanted to be able to drive large vehicles inside and not hit other doors.

I also just built with 10' wide doors. Love the space between the vehicles. Would never go smaller. My garage is 33' wide.

Depends on what size car or vehicle your plannig on putting in there. Our sons house is in a housing development area which all attached garages are the same. I am not sure of the size but he can manage to get his wife's Jeep & his 3/4 ton pickup in but it is very tight. I am guessing at the most it is 24' x24' but I think that is really stretching it. He has told me numorous times he wishes he had a garage like ours.

Our garage is 32' x 28' & I sure would hate to have it any smaller. It's really nice not having to worry about not banging the vehicle sitting next to it. Also go with 10' wide doors, my 1/2 ton Ford P/U with the bigger mirrors is very tight going in & out. If I had the 9' doors I'm sure I'd be folding my mirrors in & out going threw the doors.

We have a single garage that is 14 x 20 and currently have a Ford Flex in it with no problems.    I honestly think 24 x 24 would be plenty if you just want to get by.  If it's 30 x 30, it will just accumulate junk anyway.

28' X 28' here and would be nice to be a little bigger. You say you won't be storing stuff, but a small air compressor is nice...if you change your own oil, a spot for oil and filters is nice...might end up with garden hose reel in there in the winter time maybe...snow shovel and other tools sometimes get tossed in there...bicycles maybe if you have them and don't have another place to store them. I could go on and on. I have a Dodge Avenger (small car) and a Dodge 1500 four door short box along with two Harleys and there isn't a whole lot of spare room with all the other stuff. If anything, I would go wider than 28'.

I wouldn't go any less than that if you like to have plenty of room and would recommend at least 30X30. We have a 24X26 and it is just wide enough (24') and just deep enough (26') for my CC SB and our Denali XL. I'd go for at least two 10' wide by 8' tall doors too. I have to pull in my drivers mirror to get in with 9' wide and luckily our Denali has power fold mirrors as it just barely fits if they are out.

Have a 24*24. That is adequate if you are going to keep it clean and don't accumulate junk. Wish it was 2 ft wider though. 9ft doors have to be real careful with my dodge 3/4 ton mirrors. Only an inch or two to spare on each side, but as long as my wife doesn't try and back it out of the garage, no problems.

I know what you mean about 9 foot wide doors.

Dad's new Ford F250 won't fit in garage, has to go into old milk barn "holding pen" and its door is only 9'3" and truck's mirrors still only has 1.5" of clearance, on each side=must be slow and careful backing in. (this is with the mirrors not pulled in, at pivot point; BUT it is easier to see, backing up, this way)

I built my house a few years ago with a 28x28 attached garage. 28x28 with 9' doors = big mistake. I've already replaced a mirror on my wife's Tahoe. It clears by about 6" on each side but I didn't fuss with her. My crew cab long bed f-350 srw is so hard to park in it I chose to leave it outside unless it is going to snow. With a 2' bench on the front wall, I have to take the trailer hitch off to feel good about closing the door. Luckily I have the power folding mirrors, because it clears by about a 1" with them out and not telescoped. you can get in and out of the Tahoe pretty good but the passenger side of my truck won't open with another 2' bench down the side wall. I'm in the process of bidding out a 36dx48w detached garage now with 2 - 20' doors. (For my truck, atv, mower, my bad CJ-7 habit and Lord willing, my 2 kids will one day have vehicles). Hopefully my girl will want a little car and can park with her mom. I know my son is going to want something bigger, he can park with me.

When we lived in town I had a 24x24 garage that I used for my pickup and wood shop. I had no problems storing my 2009 Ram 2500 HD extended cab short box and even had some cabinets in the front. I would not want any shorter than 24 feet.

Ours is only about 20' wide and 26' deep, the width was limited by a hill and the depth by the size of the house. All the space on the door side is taken up by a 16' door and a walk door. We have a Buick century and crew cab short box full size p/u. There is plenty of depth, table saw in front of the car and jointer/planer on front of the p/u. The width is pretty tight, we really have to watch the kids so we don't get door dings.

Minimum for a two car garage would be 24x24'. figure 12x24 for each vehicle. This will allow plenty of room for most vehicles. My extended cab F-150 goes in ok. More room is always a plus, but you asked for the minimum. Work benches and lawn mowers can get you looking for compact vehicles. Make sure that a floor drain is put in! You may heat it some day and it is a must have.

You asked for Minimum, sounds like lots of luxury garages around here. I have a 19' wide 24'deep on my house. Used to keep a suburban and '81 Z28 in there, along with yard equip/kid toys and bikes. I have a 24 x 26 shop that the Z28 is in now ripped apart and my buddy's firebird. Plus 60 gal compressor, 2 welders, torch, floor drill press, storage, 20' workbench, tool box, and parts everywhere.

HAha, even CRAPPY driver ex never hit the door. (have a boulder at end of driveway by road, she hit that once a year!)

Dad's is 30x30 and mine will be 25 x 30. I plan on adding a detached garage/shop someday so didn't make it as big. His has stairs coming out of his space but still has enough to store mowers and ATVs in front of vehicles. Mom has a Sienna van and he has a full-size ext cab and soon to have a 2500HD crew cab and plenty of room to walk around everything, open doors, etc if you don't junk it up. Mine will also have a safe-room/storm shelter that comes out.

IF you are really serious about putting nothing but vehicles in it you can get by smaller than many think. I have a 26'x26' for my ext. cab shortbed pickup and I can park it with the snowplow attached and have a couple of feet to spare. I can open all doors on my truck and the wife's car without hitting walls or the vehicle beside it. Also have a beer fridge and a couple garbage cans. Lots of room. We are very anal about not putting anything other than the vehicles in it. If you see a possibility of bicycles and a lawnmower or other stuff ending up in there you need to go bigger.

On my 4 acre town estate I have a 750sq ft attached, 720sq ft off to the side and I'm currently putting on the finishing touches on a new 1000sq ft garage. Plus i have a 16x12 garden shed. Right now they are all full except for one bay in my new one which is reserved for a Harley.

Vehicles, trailers, quads, farm loader, lawn mowers, tool chests, benches, welders, milling machines, wood working crap, stock wood, junk..........

Worst part is that I live by myself. Build as big as you can possibly go.

Mine is 24x24, not much room for clutter but I have a 1/2t CC SB &2' front & back and my wifes smaller car fits real well. If you are organized that works well, maybe even enough room for a small mower or ATV. If I was building one I would like it a bit wider, maybe 26' at least, with 24' the doors touch the side walls before they are quite wide open. Ours would be pretty full with a 3/4 ton truck and a suburban. Got a lot of nails holding things on the walls!
