Last week Menards has had the 20% anything-you-can-fit-inside grocery sack sale. Looks like power tools are OK this time. What's the most expensive item (or combination of items) in the store you can think of that will fit in the brown sack? It must be power tools since they usually exempt them.

Read the fine print, but seen a guy in front of me in the local farm store buy $3000 worth of gift cards when they had the bag sale. His theory was that he could come back and buy anything even if it didn't fit into a sack. You would still get the discount and be able to buy about anything, even better if items are on sale.

I got over $100 in my bag without any power tool. Bought some expensive caster wheels, small tools, and when the bag was full I went to the hardware rack and throw in a slew of chain snaps to fill in the gaps. Put everything you are going to buy in you cart first than carefully pack the bag. My bag ripped open because of the weight but they just laughed and honored it.

It looks like they have a Hitachi 18 volt drill for $299 or a Bosch combo kit for $399: http://menards.com/main/tools-hardware/power-tools/c-9033.htm

I'm going for a GFCI breaker, few outlets and maybe a light fixture or two. I'm thinking if you stack that thing full of $60 GFCI breakers, you'd have a lot of $$$ in that bag.

Depending on your needs it would be pretty easy to get a small infloor heat boiler or a on-demand water heater. But I'm just going off the online dimensions. That could rack up some savings in a hurry.

Darn I missed it.

We got tractor supply up here now. They have that deal on ever once and a while as well but with a 5 gallon pail. Since Im building a garage I filled it right up with silicone, screws, door handles. Plenty heavy when I got it full. I shoulda went back again.

How often do they have these sales? They are building a Menards by us but it is not quite done yet. Outside is almost done working on the inside.

Once a year, sometimes twice. Seemed a little early this year. Sometimes 11%, some times 20%. Or so I remember.....

I would get cordless tool batteries. At a $100 a piece, you can put a lot of batteries in a bag.

I used to do those 20% off bags until I realized that a 20% off on a bunch of junk I didn't need was still way too much money.

The 20% bag sale is a good deal but depending on what you need the 11% off everything sales is a lot better as you can get anything, was looking at putting up a small 12x20 building or so in theback yard and guy at the counter said if you pay for it "today" which you have to do before they will special order anything you would get 11% off the, so if you were putting up a decent sized building or something you could easily save 4-500 bucks.

just a tish NE of central ND
Does Menards sell colored sheet metal screws for roof and building tin(I'm sure they do)_? Well anyway, 2 inch roofing screws here are about 14-15 cents each in our lumberyard. A little bag of 300 assorted lengths cost me 37$ yesterday and weight probably 3 lbs at the most. I would think you could fit quite a amount of screws into that grocery bag.,and it might bust, I have no idea how they handle that kind of situation though.

If they have enough to be worth the bother driving there. Though they do sell pole building kits. Maybe the screws for them are out in the shed alongside the skin metal. Inside in the hardware area I didn't run into any bins big enough to fill the sack with screws. Wasn't after screw in quantity either yesterday. Found other things and filled the sack. The only time splitting would be a problem is moving from the cart the conveyor and if the clerk saw all fit in the sack they would probably give the discount even if you had to empty the sack in smaller chunks to the conveyor. My sack was full, but it wasn't too heavy to move as one and stand on the conveyor. Only a couple hours left today and this sale is over.
