Caldwell County Kentucky | We just sold a Super E for $11,500. It was a 2wd, no extendahoe, rops only. Had 5,000 something hours. We now have a little bit newer Ford 555D with a cab and heat.
We had the Super E for 3 years-farm use only. First backhoe we ever owned-I bet we paid for that Super E easy, when compared to paying someone else to do all the work we did with it.
The E was about a 1985 year model with the 3.9 Cummins. Very weathered and used when we got it. We had to put hyd. cylinder kits in 5 or 6 of the cylinders while we had it. The steering hyd. cylinders where the hardest since they are smaller.
It had some leaks off the hyd. tank and fuel tank and somewhere else. Not a big deal, just parked it somewhere we could clean up if the machine sat for a while.
The other posters are correct, not a lot of power, but it was enough. Ran the tach about 1500-1700 when digging. I could load a truck faster with it than the CaseIH MXU110 fwd with a loader and bigger bucket on the CaseIH. The backhoe can "cycle" faster between scoops.
The E had a fair amount of play in the pivots on the backhoe, but we just operated it to compensate-had 4 stick controls. I helped a neighbor dig out a busted irrigation pipe that took some finess, worked fine. It's taking some getting use to with the Ford-it has 2 stick controls.
Looking back, I don't know how we ever did without a backhoe.
Hope this helps. | |
