I am goin to be trying to sell a john deere 55EB combine for a family friend. It comes with a 334 corn head, not sure if he has a platform(forgot to ask). I am wondering what its worth. It hasnt run in at least 20 years. It ran when it was parked but it has a bent rocker arm. Any info would be great. thanks

Depends if its a gas, diesel or hydraulic drive. Which both heads it could be worth $1000 to the right person. The 334 head is a little hard to find these days. Pictures would be great. Here is a pic of my '69 55EB gas, hyrdraulic drive. I converted it over to a quick tach feeder house a few years ago. Also have a 343 head for corn.

That is one sweet looking old 55, man does that bring back some memories. That looks just like the first combine I ever ran-except you have a nicer head...10 or 11 years old and thought I was king of the world.

This one is a gas with clutch drive. Not near as nice as yours but still pretty good shape.
OK That's good to know, if it was a diesel hydro that would be a rare one for sure. Also different years used different motors. Not real positive on the year they changed. The earlier ones used a 217 and the late used a 303, think the change was in '67 but dont take my word. Mine is a '69 the last year of production for this series, except I believe they built sidehill's into '70. Thanks for all the positive comments. We have approx 200ac of beans we'll be cutting this fall and just got started last Saturday. We will be using a 7700 and the 55.

eb came with slower cylinder drive sprockets and screens to go in the gaps where the clean grain and recleaner elevators mated to the machine and a removable screen under the raddle chain. Bucket elevator clean grain was a popular option on them too. Usually a spike tooth machine although rasp was an option.

Give me your numbers or emails on the 55 and the 105. I am interested in 1 or the other. I am really interested in the 105 and would like to call and ask you a little about it. I live very close to St.Louis and would go to the sale if I could not buy it before. Thanks.
