Subject: claas tractors

Crawford, MS 39743 Uniontown OH 44685

Any of our European friends on here have one?   My son was watching a youtube video about them and they looked pretty good.   Are they popular over there?  Does Claas have any plans to bring them to the U.S.?    Just a curiosity question on a Sunday.

Local claas forage equipment dealer wanted to sell claas tractors, but they can't get them yet. They have started selling Deutz tractors now. The have a used Axion that they imported from Europe. I drove an axion a few years ago and it was not a bad tractor, but it had a tiny cab. They don't really offer anything you can't get on a fendt or Deere 7R. They are priced as a premium tractor.

We were demoing a new Claas combine and the Claas rep for our area was showing it to us and I asked him about the Claas tractors and he said that usually they are used as specialty tractors for very specific operations in Europe. Not something you would have just sitting around and put it on a plow to go work a field or something. With the premium price and that there is very little if any dealer support in the US, I don't really think they'd be all that practical. They do look like they'd be fun to try out though and I bet they are put together very well.

The CLAAS tractor being referred to by your CLAAS rep is the Xerion tractor, not the MFWD models. Dealer support is nationwide (US and Canada) as with all CLAAS products.

I thought a Claas tractor was originally a Renault?

Claas purchased Renault some years back and they make tractors for all kinds of farming and is a big player here in EU.

They were, excpet for the Xerion 4x4 line(http://www.claas.com/cl-pw/northamerica/products/tractor/xerion-trac/start,bpSite=817884.html), it is an original CLAAS design.

The orignal CLAAS MFWD tractors acquired through the purchase of Renault are being systematically replaced with orignal CLAAS desgined tractors. The Axion 800 and 900 are two of the latest models that have been designed from the ground up by CLAAS.

I was told they have trouble getting the spacing needed for NA row crops. That they need some design changes before they can become a player on this side of the pond.

Only at farm shows you see them and they head back.

I don't think Claas will be for sale for another generation, now. Maybe a few years ago it could have been, before transitioning.

Agree on that aspect.

Even if Claas was sold.... I don't think the culture of what makes Claas different would survive a transition into one of the mainline's... so at that point there would be little point to buying Claas machines...

They have a state of the art system in Germany that stores parts like a hard drive stores data. There is a us distribution center also. They have daily space reserved on transatlantic flights.

Maybe AGCO and CNH should take some lessons, they both leave a lot to be desired. We've had excellent results with Deere, but I think a lot of that has to do with our dealer.

LOL. I think if they stick to doing what they're doing they'll probably be OK. Why would they want AGCO?

Claas tractors sell well here in NZ, I like them, DPS, IVECO motors, ZF, Carraro, GIMA components, all as good as the other manufacturers.

I am also a big fan of SDF machines, I have two old SAME's stashed away in sheds. the agrotons have been good here, also build with proven components, put together well, we haven't seen many high hp MFWD here yet thou

there are plenty of good tractors build in this world!
