If it goes down the road 20 miles per hour and burns 5 gallons per hour that's 4 miles per gallon.

Fifteen mile an hour at three gallon an hour would be five. Don't know how big your tractor is, but road travel is generally going to be less fuel consumption than field work.

That tractor is going to guzzle fuel no matter what your doing, doubt you'll notice it being much different going down the road.

I charge the same per hour getting there as I do working there and don't worry about fuel economy. Roading is nonproductive and hard on tires and gear so I don't charge less.

Do a search "tractor mpg" on here. 3-5 mpg seem to be the norm.

Well, at least this thread has some honest answers. Have you ever noticed that everyone on the Internet has a diesel pickup that gets better than 25 mpg? ;)

Our Conservation district puts the tractor and drill in your yard full of fuel and it leaves the same way regardless of the acres drilled. For those places or operators who do not have fuel at that site, the fill up is from the field tank in the service/chase truck and billed at the district purchase price.

It depends totally on the tractor....I know of one case where a Fendt 926 pulling approx 30k roaded 1459 miles in 54 hours, on 215 gallons of fuel.

A MT765C with about 100 hrs on it gets about 2 mpg. I was kinda let down by how much fuel it used because our Case 2590's get about 4 mpg. Then I realized that I was going 5 mph faster, weighed 10,000 more lbs and have over 100 more hp. I still hope it gets better.
