| Pretty high around here in central Nebraska in the loup&platte valleys, lotta people still gravity flowing here because of uneven&small fields, even though the NRD's are trying to limit us on our ground&surface water, moratoriums, can't drill for water, only X amount of water per year can't add irrigated acres unless you purchase them from some where else, pushin more for drip systems&Pivots but gravity out here seems to be strong as ever, no matter what the local NRD'S are tryin to push! Traded my old junk pipe off last year, 1mile still have another mile to get traded for yet! my old junk pipe was gated on 36's&38's Felton, Kroy, Rain Bird, Lindsay, Redi Rain&some old hastings, Traded for 80cents a foot, used for used, This was six inch pipe mind you, Local dealer had some real nice Lindsay&Wasco gated on 30's&20's with rectangle&keyhole gates, wanted $1.60 for his pipe, thats half of new! New hastings six inch pipe is worth $3.00 a foot, does not include gates, new 8&10in aluminum, when I priced it last year in may was $3.50&$4.00 a foot new from hastings pipe company if I remember right, Plastic way cheaper $2.00 to 2.50 a foot respectively, depends, seen 6in&8in pastic used sell (on farm sales) 50cents to $1.00 a foot on 30's & 20's. Aluminum if its good &depending on what brand 6,8,10 can go from 60cents a foot to $1.60 like I paid if its worth a hoot. Old screw gated pipe sometimes pops up around here for sale on a plethera of different row spacings 30's 36's even some old 40in gated crap, sometimes these people have to beg someone to take it,if there are no junkmen in the area! If you where irrigating with high pressure set ups years ago, had to push the water fairly far, screw gates were the answer, could regulate the flow with a simple turn of that ole screw gate, plastic gates would just blow out of the pipe or ya counldn't move them to open them because of High pressure, Knew the man personnally who developed the patent on the screw gate, Gottileb Grosch, only lived about 6miles away from me, was a very good friend of my grandfather. If you've got some of this ole screw gated pipe its hard to get rid of, except to the junkman for little bit of nuthin! Good Luck! | |
