Alliance, NE
Lookin at a set of BKT tire. 380-80r38 and 480-80r50. 4 of each. Total of 8 tires. They are priced about 1/2 of the price of a goodyear or firestone. Full set would be around $12,000

Anyone have good/bad thoughts on this brand? Thanks!!

Adelaide Hills, South Australia

Tire sellers here (in Australia) have been pushing BKT's for some years now and they seem to be popular enough that they are just about the only ones readily available. I wanted some brand name tires for the steer on a tractor with a loader on, had to wait a week for them, could have had BKT's off the shelf. I bought a pair of 520-70 R 34s last year and they seem ok. No one I have talked to seems to wear them out fast enough to compare them properly. Do you see yourself fully wearing out Goodyears? If not save the money.

I have a set of Titans on now. Fronts are between 10-40% and rears are prob 40%. The rears have tubes and seem to get flats 2-3x's per year. That's mainly why I hate the titans. They have about 3200 hrs on them. The tractor is a 2006 jd 8430. Its actually the second set on tractor. First set was replaced when we bought it with 200hrs on it. They were chuncking out. They were also titans

We had a set on a 1066. I hope you don't drive on the road much, because if you do the Good Year's would pay for themselves pretty quick.

This spring we put a set of 8 on a Magnum 305 (520x85R46 rears and 480x70R34 fronts) and a set of 8 on a JD 8430 (480x80R50 rears and 420x85R34 fronts). Haven't put enought hours on them them enough to see how they are going to wear, but I will tell you they ride a little rougher than I'd like to see. For the money though compared to the major brands I didnt see how we could go wrong (knock on wood). $12,000 seems a little high compared to what we bought this spring but im sure they have went up over the sumer. We were going to go with 380x80R-38 fronts, but was told never to run them as singles, always dualed up especially with full rack of front weights. Since I wanted to take front duals off to sidedress, we went with the 420 fronts and they seem to run rows just fine.

I ruined a 38" Michelin agribib on my 4650 mowing this summer and the BKT was 500 cheaper and the tread matched very very close so I got it. When the other agribib blew mowing cotton stalks it was an easy decision to have another BKT put on to match. Not enough hours on it yet to be able to tell but they look like a good tire and the price was sure right. BTW those agribibs were some of the very early ones and served us well, not bashing them at all as they are a great tire.

I can't really see spending $20,000+ on tires. BKT might just be the next set I own. Saving $8,000 is a lot of money

I have a set on my 7140 fwa,Michelin on the inside and BKT on the duals. Michelin have been on two seasons and the BKT one. The Michelin show very little wear and still have their sharp edge, the BKT show some stubble damage( not bad) and appear to be wearing faster than the Agribibs and the edges are not as sharp. I will try to take pictures and post tomorrow. So you can compare for yourself. That being said would I buy the BKT again, as of right now yes, two or three years from now, we'll see. Replaced 18.4-42

When will Good year make a tire that sets the standard? Seems like there only option now, titan/goodyear probably can hang on during the good years of selling to oem's. Not gunna keep up with out quality when it all comes down to price, when times get tuff.

i just put 4 (480/80/50s) & 4 (380/85/38s) on my 8520 and really like them. have only put around 150 hrs on them so far. but we have had a set on our 8110 for 3 years and they are holding up well. the tractor has some bounce on the road but it may have had that before because i bought it used and didnt really use it much before i put the tires on. i priced firestones for $20,000, michelins for $18,000, goodyears for $16,000 and bkt for$10,200. seems like a no brainer to me. there is no way a firestone will last twice as long.
