Probably too much. LOL. I would be surprised if it didn't go for 10 to 12k. I did no know 4020's came with the crooked shifter like a 4320.

Late model console 4020 will be worth 10-12 by its self ,Add in a newer loader with quick attatch , worth 5 k minimum -id say the tractor will bring 15k easy ,What hurts it is the bald tires .

Oughtta make it a bit quieter and not so sharp noted, I'd rather listen to a round muffler 4020 than a late model and will walk past every one built for a 4320.

Why do the late model ones sound so pathetic, anyway?  Our 4010 sounds stout.  The 4000 sounds sissified.

Wouldn't be surprised to hear that it goes to or maybe even over 13,5, here in the east we have the folks to make it happen. Looks to be in good shape, nose aint all bent up, much newer style loader and a quick hitch conveys with the sale.

Cigarrette lighter is missing and that calcium is workin on the rear wheels around the stems, wouldn't worry too much about that hour meter, 40 years later you know.

I like 4020's, well I like all the New Gen tractors but don't really want anymore, this looks like a good specimen you have pictured,,, 2840 sitting beside it will probably go about 10-11.5 !!!!! Those sized tractors seem to sell real well around here, hence I have never bought a tractor locally !!!!!

I see some of the other price quotes and I am pretty surprised, true in one respect, folks will give an arm and a leg for a 4020, other respects,,, you'll be kicking yourself this winter when your neighbor is plowing your drive while your working on those batteries, heaters, starters and trying to get your hands and feet thawed out, if it would of turned over one more time it would have started !!!!!! Been there and done that !!!!

Keep us posted on the winning bid Alan, the suspence is growing !!!! If it goes over 13,5 as a pair,,,, our treat at Harrisons next weekend !!!!

With the dual language on the tachometer, I think not the original. And tachometer hours are easily forgotten caused by a tach or tach cable failure or by going past 9999 a time or two.

Look at the pedals, the steering wheel, and the water pump pulley for a better idea of life unless those have been replaced.

It will probably sell well for the seller, the buyers will be shocked by the price.

18,750. If you had a set of Firestones and wheel weights 20,000 wouldn't stop it "here" When I look at the hour meter I assume that would be 11512hrs.

Do weights add that much to price? Front slabs (double-stack) & 145 wheel weights?

I believe a 16.9x38 would be a common tire size for the late models, right? Supposedly hard to get 16.9s?

I have had to pay plenty for front brackets and slabs, everyone wants to add them to their "collector". In this area I see a lot with 18.4-38's.

Around here the tractor by itself would bring $9-12000.

What's the deal with the tach having the Spanish on it? Don't think I've ever seen one before that had that? Either a Mexico tractor or tach replaced?

There was some complaints years ago about replacement tachs for 4020's coming from Mexico.

My 2010 also has the crooked shift lever as shown. Also has different shifting pattern.

1-2-R in first range 3-4-R in second range 5-6-R in third range 7-8 in 4th range

This tractor is an early 1970 model and has a replacement tach. The crooked shift lever started at S/N 250001 (1971) as did the short square intake manifold (engine s/n 280001) and dimmer switch for the lights. The loader is worth more than the tractor in my opinion. But will probably bring at least $15K.

Did you notice the fuel cap missing? Not sure if that was stolen before or after the rain we had. If it matters, that 4020 is probably the highlight of the sale. I'd bet that isn't the original hours but I don't know that. Rest of the stuff is outdated tillage equipment and junk, and it's dry here. Here's the sale bill.

Looking at the sale paper and it appears they are offering the 4020 and the loader separately, I dislike when they offer them separately and then together and take the best for them, can't blame them really but I really think they should make up thier mind and sell it one way or another............

That tractor and loader would definately be offered seperately and then together if it were sold here. I actually prefer it when auctioneers sell some things that way. It's common with some loader tractors and often spud trucks here. I have never had the feeling that there was something wrong with it or that I was bidding against myself.

That's how a tractor and loader is almost always sold.  A combine and head used to sell that way a lot of times.

I guess I don't really see the big problem.  Assuming you want the combination, all you have to do is wait and bid once and it's probably yours.

Too bad Plowboy, you should have said $18,749.  You've already lost and they haven't bid yet!  Lol...

I agree it'll bring too much but good looking 4020's do!  That loader is nice (from here it is anyway!)

We've found that triple hydraulics on late model 4020's is not all that uncommon.  We thought it was maybe rare but it seems that since they were available that way, several guys took avantage of that option.  Still neat to have if you ask me.

It'll sell for less than $17,750 so I'll say $17499.  Ha!

This horse's teeth are pretty worn. Look at the clutch pedal, worn almost to the bottoms of the grooves in the middle. If that tachometer reading was right, might be 21512, but I trust tractor tachs, especially that vintage, as far as I can throw the tractor sideways one handed. Remember there is no law against turning a farm machine hour meter back or than plain fraud. Nothing specific like there is for car and truck odometers. Nor is there a law that the tachometer has to have worked all the life of the tractor.

Of this I'm certain. Won't be any bids from me.

I wouldn't give you 5000 for it.

That seems like a foolish comment. Must be a Deere hater.

4020 's are sort of gay little tractors, I certainly wouldn't want one with a loader.  My neighbor has one and I drove it once and hated it, quickly got back on something thats mfwd, faster hydraulics, weighs more, reverser, and yes self leveling.

Now "DEERE HATER"  thats harsh!!  if I was going to spend the kind of cash that this thing will end up bringing on a tractor that would not fit into our operation and be more of a collector tractor i would buy a 6030 like the one in this vid.

I'm not a Deere hater, but would not give $5000 for it anyway. (tractor only) The 20 series are getting to be some really old tractors. IF I were to buy a tractor that old, I'd pass on any that had seen loader duty. I'd rather have the 2840.

Okay, now that I have seen the rest of the pictures (besides the ones in your text message) I am going to say $15,787 for the tractor and $4,743 for the loader if sold seperately. If sold together I am going to guess $17,251 for the pair.

It does not have the original tach and it also has a 4240 muffler...not that either really matter.

It looks like it may have carried some heavy loads in soft conditions with the extra tie rod bolts. It would be interesting to hear it run out and see what condition the clutch and brakes are in too. I couldn't really tell if there was much oil on the engine. Hydraulics would be interesting to check too. Alan, did you pull any dipsticks or check the radiator?

Yep checked the radiator, dipstick, and hydraulics. Tractor ran strong and drove nice. Shifted through all the gears and everything seemed fine. I pulled an oil sample from the engine and transmission and next day aired them to our lab and should know results by tomorrow afternoon. Probably will have to add a couple grand because its in Talbot County, Maryland!

Never understand why people will pay 12-15 grand for a worn out  tractor. That thing has been around and seen its better days. a worn out clutch petal, a cheap paint job and questionable hours. It would look even worse if you got up close to it.

I would look for a good 4230 for the same money. One  hell of a lot better unit for the same money. I have owned both of them and ther is no comparison in the difference.

I strongly disagree, couldn't sell me a 4230 for nothing. I'd take a 4020 anyday. 4230,4430, and 4240 are worthless here because of the weight distribution with the cab. Still have my Grandad's 4020 that he bought new in '68. It's far from wore out with over 15000 hours.

We ran a 4240 over 12k hours with out a single problem. That tractor tops my list for one of the most trouble free tractors ever on our operation. Wish we had not traded it for the 7610.

Trouble free, I agree but they basically to heavy on the front to work in our sand. In firm conditions they were fine, but that's not a very common occurrence in our part of the world. A 4020 was light on its feet in the sand. We had much better luck with 4630's and 4440's. We owned a 4240 for well over 10000 hours, but it wasn't used for its intended purpose. Wanted it for row crop but ended up on the baler and stripper.

You maka no sense.  You say dat de weight distribution is wrong witha da cab, den you say that ita too heaby on de front axle.  I don't know how de putta together de tractors downa dere, but uppa here, we putta de cab on de back end.

Meaning when the cab was added, the 4240 was front heavy. 4430 wasn't as bad but still had the same problem. Didn't mean to imply the cab was the problem but rather that tractor was heavier on the front than a 4020. 2wd 8000's are the same way. Auto type is difficult but you might want to try "Hooked on phonics."

I doo not understand why you tinka de front end ofa de 4240 is heavier den de 4430?  Dey look just alika to me.

I'd have to go drive on the scales...well, and put the 4430 back together first....but I don't really think the 4020 was much lighter on the front then the 30s were.

Here is what I don't exactly like about this unit. It just about looks like that is the wrong frame for putting that loader on that tractor. To me, the loader is mounted to far forward, awful lot of weight being put on the front axle. Just about wonder if the loader wasn't originally on the other tractor??

Looks like 18.4s on the rear, have seen 4020's with that size tire. As other poster mentioned, looks like the fluid in those rear tires is being awfully hard on the rims. Might be looking at needing to add either some cast iron, or different rims to counter weight.

I have a 1971 4020 with the long bent shifter. Put on the 3rd hydraulics on it. Bolted right up. Had to cut the tin on the back so I could flip the lever to lock in the hose.
