My 1655 runs a 10 by 72 very nicely. The 1655 is the third update from the Super 88. One runs 80 hp, one runs 72 hp. The Super 88 can run 70 pretty easily if it you tweak it on the dyno. Most are 55 hp stock but many run 60-70 hp.

NO. Only if you plane them too thin for true or overheat them. Most Supers were running 70 hp around here 30 years ago.

Ran one with turbo at 85 hp for 10,000 hours.

Ed, does a Super 88 have enough hyds to raise a 8"x61" or 10"x71" hyd auger? If wouldn't mind owning one if it would. An uncle had Olivers when I was a kid & I always liked the looks of one. My SMs & SMTA will handle the 8" once it is raised but don't have the hyd capacity. Their pumps only put out 1,100 psi new & only have about a 2 gal hyd reservoir.

The old oliver hyd system is only 1000 psi. I've tried to get them to lift the sisors type augers with no luck. our 10x71 GSI swing auger must take 2000+psi. Have no problem with the 10x71 fetrel with the hyd winch. my 77 diesel 36 hp rated, 44 ish on the dyno powers either one easily even in wet corn with the auger just about as high as it goes. A stock super 88 I though was 55-58 hp stock. My 880 diesel is right at 60 hp same engine with just a few more rpm's. I like using them because the smooth mechanical clutch pto vs the sudden start hyd pto clutch that most of the tractors here have.

Thanks Adam. Our augers are the sissor types with the long hyd. cylinders

Good point, forgot that important one!

1600 and newer OK but maybe clayfarmer needs to think about the hydraulic question!

It takes about 50 hp max to shear the shear pin. It will take close to that if corn is wet and at maximum angle. At more moderate angles with dry corn a 40 hp tractor will do fine. Your 88 should be about right - give it a nice load.

I run a 10" x 51' with a Super 77 Oliver gasser. A Super 88 should have absolutely no problem at all with a 10" x 61'. If you want to play some games it is very, very easy to get that Super 88 up to 90 pto hp.

The last dyno visit for "Killer" was interesting to say the least.

You can kill Killer in road gear with good brakes up a steep hill. You will just smoke the brakes. I know, I tried.

That is one mean Super 77. Sounds like a GMC truck from the 60's but no it is Oliver.

The last time we had it on the track they made us run 1,000# under weight. Around here if it even shows up for a pull, ------------- Let's just say we have been told to just "let it on the truck".
It has been known to handle a 4010 Deere easy, and on occassion it would "put away" my dad's 966 IH. Not bad for a factory rating of 42.3 belt hp. This picture was taken in the fall of 2005 on the first time "Killer" was tracked since July of 1983. Somewhere around 60 couple first place tropies, and 1 second place.
