I am thinking of going from 10.00 to 11.00 x 16 tires on the front of my tractor, to gain some height and have more flotation and better ride. Will the 11.00's work ok on the 8" rims? Also I have several choices in brand and price: The lowest is a Carlisle at 175, then a Samson harvest track at 215, and a Firestone at 240 and a Firestone stubble stomper at 300. All are 8 p.r.. They also have a samson 12 p.r. at 225. I no till in some corn stubble and have found it can puncture 8 pr. but not 12. I don't need the capacity of the 12 p.r., just the puncture resistance. Any experience with the Firestone stubble stompers? What is best for wear on paved roads? The samson 12 ply is a 4 rib.

I think you will like the move to the 11.00-16. Years ago I had a 1030 Case tractor, and made that move. It made a better tractor out of it. I don't own any tractors anymore, but my customers have some awesome tractors with bigger tires than that.

I have a pair of 1100x16 stubble stompers on my sprayer tractor, ran two seasons on notill everything and no flats, but I don't think a deer antler would have any trouble going through them. They had a pretty good field hazard on them at the time.

I just bought a 10 ply Deestone [sp] and it was $175. I have been using these for a few years and they seem to be a better tire than I used to get in the 8 plys of whatever I was getting. This is a 3 rib tire. The 3 rib seems to track better in my furrowed out middles. We haul 400 gallons of water in saddle tanks plus weights sometimes and that can be tough on those front tires.

You are going to have to spring for new rims. Tires you want to go to are too wide for an 8 inch rim.
You will gain some height,, thou the ride improvement will not be that measurable.
The one difference it will make (may may/not apply in your situation) is if/when you use your 3 point hitch on equipment your "angle of the dangle" will be differerent with the 1100 16's ....
(I would use the smiley face here if there was one)

You are right, I just checked my F-3, 11.00-16 on 8" rim. I may still replace the rims, because the last tires with rims I sold at auction brought a good price.

You can put the wider tire on the original 8" rim but you wont get the full benefit of the wider tire unless you move to a 10" rim what the 1100 tire is designed for. Already made the switch on a JD 4440. Wider tire needs wider rim.

Well those might be 10" rims. I bought them to put 11L16 on my MF-135 with loader. They weren't easy to find, had to go to several places eventually finding one rim at a time for the 6 bolt hubs. They don't look pulled in and the four rib tires run fairly flat across the treads. Its been more like 12 or 14 years since I did that.
