we are looking at getting a cat tractor and wonder if the 85d is that much better than the 85c or the 75's. we know that the 85d will have a bigger motor (3196) and wonder what is the difference in real world power between the four tractors? how big of a field cultivator will each pull in the heavy black dirt of SE MN or even where you are at? will the 85c and the 75 d have the same power? what are some of the other things about each that make it better or worse?

85c and 75d are very smilar as far as power goes. I have run a 75D on a 54ft IH cultivator and it worked very well, we have an 85d currently with a 46ft DMI cultivator and it pulls it easily in our gumbo.

Our 85D was purchased on a sale but it was a Butler machine, which was nice because they had all the records and oil samples for us. We have purchased 2 other tractors from them and don't have any complaints. The service guys are great. I can only speak for the Fargo ND location though, never delt with any other stores.

We went looking a few years ago and our dealer (ziegler) told us that when the 85c came out that people were dissapointed in them because they didn't pull that much more than a 75c. We went with a 85d,very happy, bigger better motor.
