Subject: Missouri Menonite and Amish communities

East Central Arkansas
A few years ago we traveled Hwy 5 from Hwy 70 down to the Osage Beach area. In the town of Tipton there was a Dutch Bakery and bulk goods store. We really enjoyed looking around in there and the sandwiches we got from the deli. On further down the road, pretty much in the middle of nowhere there was a Toolbarn Store that sold all types of hand tools used in construction.
Just wondering if there might be other places of interest between Hwy 70 and Osage Beach or Hwy 44. I know that area is really not main roads and out of my way but like seeing different places.
Edited the title.

NEMO
The place at Tipton is Mennonite, certainly not Amish. Big difference

Yes my mistake. Maybe should edit the post title. Pretty sure the tool place would have been Menoite also.

Stopat either of those places, they will most likely have a paper map of many of the "Mennonite" businesses in the area.  In " " because a good number are excluded because they don't  "fit" with the views of those compiling the map.  There are somewhere around 40-50 businesses scattered throughout Morgan and Moniteau counties.  This barely scratches the surface (just food stores).

Thanks Paystar. Was hoping you might reply as I think you had replied when I made a post a few years ago about going through that area. I don't remember what all you shared other than being familiar with the area. If it wasn't for having to stop and spend the night at places and the expense involved with that I sort of like taking some routes less traveled and seeing country one wouldn't normally see. I have got when it gets dark I want to be close to a place to bed down for the night.

I don't know for sure if my Email in my profile still works or not. I did send myself something a while back from my other Email and it came through. Kept getting a message awhile back it was inactive and was going to be canceled.

This used to be a great place to stop to save money-

But since they remodeled a couple of years ago their prices have really gone up. Still worth a stop IMO.
