any noticeable difference on ride quality between the two on the new ones, not much difference in price, i would guess only difference to go with the 450 is you want the box?

In what application? Service truck for example it’s easy enough to overload a 550, 450 would be overloaded before putting tools on it.

I have a friend who pulls a large gooseneck with a 550.  He said it drives like a pig, you always
have to be correcting, tiring, these are full day hauls.
His company also has a Ram and GMC 1 tons, he said they drive much better.

I bought a crew f450 chassis cab and put a flat bed on it in 2021. If I’d do it over I’d do a 550 next. For not much money you get significant more payload. I don’t mind mpthe ride in my f450, I thought it would be worse.

I have a F550 with the "Payload Plus Package" and it is very rough riding. My understanding is that part of the package is "low deflection springs" which I believe is their way of saying "no give in the springs" and is probably the culprit. I am guessing it would ride much better without the package.

The 450 as a pickup will have more power than a 450 or 550 cab chassis spec if that matters to you. I have a 350 Dually with a Norstar box, small welder, fuel tank, and I am not overloaded at all until I pull a gooseneck.

I believe with the 450 you can get 4.10 gears where as a 550 doesn't go below 4.30 or 4.80 I cant remember.

We bought an '09 550 w/service body last year. It rides like there are little to no springs (very rough). Any remedy for that? How can we tell if it has heavier than stock springs? Thanks

Changed these cab mounts on a 2010 F350 Super Duty I bought new. Probably not enough to fix your rough ride, but helps some.
