Going to get a gooseneck deckover dump. Narrowed it down to these 2, Load Trail is $1,000 less. Maxx D is supposedly better but the reviews I have seen online don't all agree. Maxx D has 24" fold down sides and Load Trail is only 18". Will the taller sides be too heavy?

I only have a skid loader trailer with 7k axles from load trail I have had great luck with and everyone I know has too not a ton of max d trailers around where I live I don’t even know where a dealer is for them that’s probably why. only other trailer I’d probably get would be a midsota if I switched from load trail

I have a 24 foot drive over fender 16,000# MaxxD trailer that I bought a couple of years ago. Dealer had Load Trail, MaxxD and Lamar in stock. I bought the MaxxD because of a few features that I thought made it a heaver duty longer lasting trailer. So far I am satisfied with my decision. As far as 24 vs 18 inch sides, either one could be a blessing or a curse depending on what you are doing that day.
One note my trailer does not have a lot more capacity than a more common 14,000# trailer does because of the additional weight of the heavier frame rails, extra cross members, and heavier axles, wheels and tires. Trailer itself is over 5000#.
I really like the 17.5 rims and tires, they sure don't have the issues we all have with 16 inch tires.

You going to haul rock I bet 18" will be plenty fold down sides would be nice for pallets
Never looked at a deck over --we obviously liked the price and how Heavy Load Trails were built
Got rid of goosnecks --and bought these 3--we discussed how much we hated hooking up the GN's
Still have a 30' GN dual wheel tandem deck over for heavier work
Probably will not be any trouble with a deckover BUT we sold a 16' GN Corn Pro dump
The over hang out the back darn near drug when bed was up "it sucked"
Haven't dumped a load with this Load Trail but it appears to not have much over hang

Good luck

Dan

Add one of the flat trailers will be a 3 axle Drone trailer with upper deck next year
other flat has drive over fenders it's a 2 axle --
pretty nice to have new tires and brakes for the next few years

I went down this road a few weeks ago and ended up with RawMaxx - which is a really stupid name but appears to be a well-engineered and well-built trailer - excepting wiring, which is industry average - which is not great.

Of the two you listed, I would have been inclined toward the Load Trail.
