I'm not sure about the extent to which trends are followed https://cannacraftcorner.com in the USA, but there's a significant shortage of white corn in South Africa and across the rest of Africa. Currently, prices for white corn delivery in Des are at R5430 per ton (1000kg), while yellow corn is at R4490 per ton (1000kg). It's worth considering whether white corn varieties are uniquely suited to the South, and whether they yield similarly to yellow corn. Most white corn is long season so it does not mature in the far north. White corn corn delivered in place of yellow incurs a price reduction in America so it's rarely grown except for buy call situations.

I'll never understand why white corn is preferred for food in African countries. It has less vitamins. But I'll also never understand why yellow Dent is the default corn either. Especially when other factors besides color should be the decisive choice for most end users.

That’s not enough premium to attract US growers. It takes about a $40/tonne premium to the growers to be worthwhile, and that doesn’t leave much to pay for segregation in the rest of the delivery chain.
